Reviews
*Rating: 2/5*
I recently had a disappointing experience at Rasraj San Diego, despite the food being well-presented and served in good quantities. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was subpar, which led to my entire family falling ill after dining there.
*Food Quality Issues*
We tried a variety of dishes, including dosa, Manchurian, golgappe, and vada pav. While the taste was decent, the quality of the ingredients seemed compromised. Friends later informed us that Rasraj has been known to use stale items and chutneys in their dishes, which likely contributed to our food poisoning.
*Cleanliness and Food Safety*
It’s concerning to hear about such practices, especially in a restaurant. Cleanliness and food safety should be top priorities, and Rasraj seems to be falling short in this regard.
*Service and Ambiance*
On a positive note, some reviewers have mentioned that the service at Rasraj can be quick and the staff friendly. However, this wasn’t enough to redeem our experience.
*Comparison to Other Reviews*
Interestingly, other customers have had vastly different experiences at Rasraj. Some have praised the restaurant’s catering services, citing delicious food and excellent service. Others have mentioned that the food is hit-or-miss, depending on the dish and flavor preferences.
*Recommendation*
Unless Rasraj takes steps to address their food quality and safety issues, I would caution against dining there. There are likely better options in San Diego that prioritize customer health and satisfaction.
*Key Takeaways*
– *Food Quality:* 1/5 (due to stale ingredients and food safety concerns)
– *Taste and Presentation:* 3/5 (food was well-presented, but taste was compromised by quality issues)
– *Service:* 3/5 (some reviewers have praised the service, but it wasn’t notable in our experience)
– *Overall Experience:* 2/5 (food quality issues and safety concerns outweigh other aspects) ¹ ²
I bought rasmalai from this restaurant today, and to my absolute horror, it was completely spoiled. A few of our guests — including children — ate it before we realized, and they suffered from vomiting and diarrhea soon after.
How can a restaurant be this negligent with customer health and basic food safety? This is not just bad service — this is dangerous and irresponsible. The owners should be ashamed for putting people, especially children, at risk just to make a few extra dollars.
To make things worse, I noticed several previous reviews warning about the poor quality of their sweets — something I sadly missed before purchasing.
To anyone considering this place: Please do not make the same mistake. Your and your family’s health is not worth the risk.
And to the owners: How do you sleep at night knowing the money you earn comes at the cost of making people sick? Absolutely shameful.
Cool place with authentic food!
Husband said “I wouldn’t mind eating vegetarian if all the food tasted like this. We’re definitely coming back”
I don’t usually like spicy food, but the chole bhatura I ordered was just great. (They have VEGAN Options!)
The dal my husband ate was flavorful and very well seasoned.
We loved the place!
Staff was friendly and kind.
We highly recommend it
My coworker, who is from India, ordered a bunch of different things for us.
My favorite was the paneer Tikka (gravy version) and the samosas. The garlic and regular Naan were great as well.
It was not too spicy overall
This restaurant provides counter service food and sweets. I think the sweets are probably better quality than most of the food.
My partner gets chole bhatura and I find the papdi chat to well flavored.
All the plates are styrofoam with plastic cutlery, very fast food/ street food vibes.
The restaurant does give off a bit of an unkempt vibe and the walls are a bit oddly painted.
