Ordered a burger was very tasty but the visual appearance of the bun was not nice. For a 24$ burger the bun should look better. The entire plate looked sad. If this would be a lunch special I would not complain but this was a dinner. They can improve the visual appearance of the main dish.

Food was excellent and so was the service. The waitress gave great recommendations and was attentive. The Caesar salad was the best we’ve ever had. Both of our dinners were delicious. We got the pork chop and the special was chicken. Based on how good our food was we bet the steaks are amazing. Nice atmosphere and good drinks list. We were just traveling through but would recommend for any special occasion.

A perfect date night! We loved our visit to Rare. The chicken marsala is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Husband had the blackened chicken pasta, which was delicious! Wonderful service and ambiance as well. We can’t wait to go back!

My Daughter and I dined at RARE on July 15, 2023. This is definitely a rare find in Southern Illinois to find a place that trumps the places I usually regular near Chicago. This place is definitely worth a visit. Our server, Tiffany W. was exceptional. She was very versed on the wine menu, and also very attentive, without being a nuisance. The decor and ambiance of RARE was both Zen, and romantic. I found myself totally relaxed, and able to enjoy our experience from start to finish. This was a very special Mother Daughter dinner, as I drove many hours to take my Daughter to dinner before she starts her final Semester at SIU. I wrote to RARE ahead of time, asking for a great soothing visit. They absolutely did not disappoint. From the Hostess, and her professional demeanor, to Tiffany, our server, to the wonderful food cooked to perfection, this place yielded a spot for a RAVE REVIEW! We ordered the Pretzel with Gouda cheese appetizer, Steak Filet with Mac and cheese side, and the Blackened Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. We paired with a martini, and a glass of wine. A+++ 10 stars a choice restaurant that we will brag about to anyone we know. Thank you Tiffany, for helping me bring a smile to my Daughters face and warming my heart!! Bring a shawl. I didn’t witness open shoulders, jeans, or the such. Dress classy, and something to stay warm if you get cold in air conditioning. We did see very well behaved tween age eating quietly, wearing khakis and nice tops. The bar looks very nice, and the wine wall, and RARE sign wall is a great photo opportunity. This is a great Date place, special occasions, or just a night you want a quality dinner.

The first time visiting this awesome establishment! Rare chop house provides a warm and inviting atmosphere! Not only was the waitstaff amazing but the live band was a very nice added touch! Our waiter was on point with the various menu options and even helped us find gluten free options! The ribeye was amazing the chicken florentine was delicious! Also, the New York Cheesecake with the strawberry drizzle was to die for! I would definitely recommend for date night or any other occasion! Definitely a place I’ll visit again!

We arrived and the hostess asked us for a reservation after we told her that we did not have any she said that the next available table will be ready in an hour later, I asked her why so many empty tables and she said that the people hasn’t arrived. She offered us the bar and we sat there. We were for almost two hours and the bar and to our surprise no one ever came to the empty tables.

It was ok. The steak was good, but prices weren’t listed. The atmosphere was great, but it took 30+ minutes to get our food for 3 people. The baked potatoes had an unmelted stick of butter in it and the potato itself wasn’t cooked all the way. Overall a pretty decent restaurant, I just won’t come here again

Absolutely amazing food. This is a great restaurant. The food quality was excellent. We had 3 appetizers. The cajun shrimp, bruschetta, and pork belly bites. All were very good. The red beans are rice soup was out of this world. Had the ribeye with asparagus for the entree. Cooked perfectly and great flavor. The service was also excellent. Very efficient, helpful friendly and attentive. Definitely 5 star service. I would highly recommend this place. I look forward to visiting again.
