The sauce had GREAT flavor and the crust was perfectly fold-able (real pizza requirement) yet crispy to the center of the pie.
We ate in (and with their large pie took more than half back to my son’s place). There is decent seating inside. Not very large but we didn’t hit them up on a weekend night so it could very well be crowded at those times. If it isn’t packed during those hours I’d be shocked.
This is the closest NY style pizza to my home town than any I’ve tried (and I have tried numerous in earnest).
The toasted ravioli were pretty darn good too but I was so delighted by their pizza I want to give them the nod they deserve but not take away from a truly scrumptious pie. Perfect dough bubbles under the sauce and all!!!!
We were fortunate to be able to get Lily each time, as she brings both a depth of knowledge of and a passion for food that elevates the experience. Knowing when to stay and chat knowledgeably about the food, the bread, the drinks, the music and when to silently and swiftly serve and not interrupt the flow of our conversation, she IS what every restaurant worker should strive for. When you go, do ask for her. Just not on the nights we go 😉
Our first time we kept it fairly simple with spaghetti and meatballs. If you can call the homemade spaghetti that twists and curls and so perfectly cooked you realize this is what pasta is supposed to be simple. Oh, and that meatball? Softball sized. And falls apart on the tongue. All in a sauce that is so good you are thrilled the best bread in the universe is there so you can mop it up. So, yeah, simple.
Our second meal we went with the amazing 6 course tasting menu (DO get it, you’ll be delighted!) and as we gushed to the chef afterwards when he came to chat, it was all wonderful. When he asked us what we didn’t like, we could not think of a thing. The tastes in each dish surprise, delight and thank heavens for that divine bread to sop up every drop of sauce. We were lucky that they sent out a little surprise bitters drink to clear the palate, such a delight, and not one but two divine extras.
There’s no doubt that Randolfi’s is putting out spectacular food right now. They care deeply about how it is sourced. And served. If you love crazy good food, you’ve found your place.
