I finally stopped in for a lunch experience. This place has been around for years. Excellent customer service in a spacious rustic, Spanish style dining room.
I enjoyed the queso Blanco appetizer, the green chili tamale as well as the chicken mole enchilada. The chips and salsa were a great starter. The next time I pop in for an experience, I think I will focus on à la carte items. They also have an amazing selection of salsa.

We definitely had a good experience there for my mom’s 80th birthday. There was 11 of us and we reserved a private room. The staff was very attentive and we’re kind even though we stayed past closing time. The food was great and we had plenty of chips and salsa. I had the carne asada plate and the meat was marinated and cooked perfectly and so were the veggies. We all enjoyed our food. The atmosphere and building are also really neat. They have a big menu with a lot of different items so anyone can really find something that they like. I will say the chips and salsa are amazing!

I ordered a carne asada plate (not carne asada in the picture online). I walked in and stood around for 5 mins with no one anywhere. Not in the bar or upfront or at any tables. When I opened my lunch there was so much grease/oil it was a pool that filled the entire bottom of the to go box. Also, the sour cream and guac they give is in one tiny container for both is an absolute joke for $20. Save your money and try another restaurant, because it is obvious they are saving on to go containers for your sides.

The flavors here are sweet and you should know that going in. They even mention it on the menu. So the salsas and the enchilada sauce, for example, are sweeter than what you would get other places.

I say that because other reviewers give the impression there’s something wrong with it, whereas it is probably just a different style of Mexican food than what you are used to.

Our food was OK, wish the portions were a bit bigger for the price. Service was good. The decor is incredible and I can’t say enough about the work that went into creating a great atmosphere.

Beware that they are offering discounts for 5-star reviews. Can’t condone that, it makes all the positive reviews unreliable.

Haven’t been for a couple years. It was a pleasant surprise when we walked in. We thought it had new owners. Not the case, but brighter interior, great food as always and very pleasant staff. Will be back

First time I think I have gone to a Mexican restaurant and not gotten rice and beans.. i got a pile of shredded meat, mashed potatoes and some street corn. It was GREAT. Pricey.. and a ton of food. The meat was so good, zero fat. Scoop of potatoes, dip in corn, fork in meat, and shove in mouth. My mom got the enchiladas and said they were good as well.

5/10/25: Short version – I only just now looked at the less-than-stellar reviews for Rancho and am utterly shocked at what I was reading. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Rancho. From the bright colors to the myriad displays to the food, everything was wonderful.

Long version – a few weeks ago we stopped by Rise Up Bakery, a few doors down from Rancho. It was then we spotted the joint and were captivated by the exterior decor. Since then, we have been wanting to check it out but we don’t live close by (30 miles away). Well, we popped in this particular Saturday because there were three places in the area we were visiting. We had high hopes the food would be just as exciting as the outside decor and boy was it!

The place was near empty, which was surprising considering it was Mother’s Day weekend, but it had just opened for lunch about 30 minutes earlier. I was floored by how huge the place is. Since it wasn’t crowded, I walked all around taking pictures of all the wonderfully bright & eclectic items that decorated the walls, shelves, floors, and ceiling.

There are three individual rooms for larger gatherings; the booths looked plenty comfortable, but we sat at a table (the cushions could be thicker, I will say); the patio wrapped around the entire east and north side of the restaurant and it looked decently shaded, though I did not notice misters.

One gentleman brought waters to our table seconds after we were seated, and our server (Julia) came over quickly for a drink order. After a few minutes she returned for our food order. The entirety of our stay she was buzzing all over the place, serving other tables (inside and out) but she always popped by frequently to ask how things were. We never felt neglected or forgotten.

The food? Dee-lish. We ordered the sample platter and my favorite was the tamale, followed closely by the bean chimi. I was surprised at the tamale’s sweetness and enjoyed the crispiness of the chimi. My sister ordered the steak burrito and I opted for the papas con carne with all three meats. The chipotle creamed potatoes were creamy and the southwest chili corn was not overly spicy, which was pleasing since I am not a huge fan of too-spicy food that burns my mouth and makes me sweat. 😉

The drinks? Horchata is my go-to and it was wonderful. We had no intention of ordering cocktails but the booth behind us had a customer who was refusing to take the drink she ordered (she wanted a pina cola smoothie, not a boozy one, WTF) so their server returned it. As we are sitting there enjoying the sample platter, I see the cocktail just sitting there at the bar, all alone, wondering what it did wrong (LOL) and I thought, “to hell with it, I’m going to take it.” Waste not want not, my mom always said. I wasn’t just going to steal it so I waited a couple minutes until someone popped up behind the bar and told them I would take it. I think she thought I meant to take it for free, but I explained I didn’t want it thrown out (that’s a waste of good alcohol!!) and that I was at a different table and thus it should be put on our bill. After one sip I was smitten, it was very, very good. Probably the only thing that could have made it better was it if was frozen vs on the rocks. Regardless, it had the right amount of booze in it and it was a pretty large drink; perfect to share with my sister.

Was it a bit pricey? I can see how some people would say it was, but we wanted to splurge a little since we both had a hectic week at work — and we both agree, the higher cost was worth it. Especially taking into account that we both had leftovers. Heck, I had some of the leftover papas con carne for dinner and I still have enough remaining that my next two or three work days I am set for lunch.

We would totally recommend Rancho to anyone looking for good Mexican food. In fact, as we were leaving, my sister texted her boss (who lives in the area) and told her she should check it out.

Beautifully decorated. The staff didn’t seem to have each others back. Our server had 2 large 12+ person parties and her colleagues didn’t even try to help out to see if they could take our order or even get us more water/chips and salsa. Waited 20 minutes to order. Finally ordered. Our nachos came out 20 minutes later. Not sure why the nachos took so long. It looked slapped together. Several tables had partial orders as well so they also did not get to eat together. My cheese enchiladas came out 20 minutes before my son and partners meals. The red sauce was sweet and had an unusual taste to it. Their steak burritos were bland and falling apart. The meal was overpriced. Apparently they had fairly new cooks, but if the recipe is the same, should that matter? I would not recommend. Go to Chipotle!

I threw a Celebration of Life get together there last weekend. We paid $200 to use their private party room for 3 hours, and they allowed us to come an hour early so we us set-up & decorate some (all of which they helped us with also.) . The staff was friendly and accommodating (just slow on the drink orders.) My guests complimented on the venue, the decor, and obviously on their delicious food. This Mexican restaurant is one of my favorites, so I will definitely because back! Thank you, Tia Rosa’s!!

After many years of coming here, we will be saying good bye. We’ve finally had enough. Tonight, was probably the worst drinks, food and service we’ve ever had here. We’ve had issues before but not quite on the same scale. We were with several other couples and everyone was unhappy tonight. Margarita Monday started with such watered down drinks that they were virtually transparent, tasteless and tasted as if devoid of any tequila. We were told by the manager that if we wanted a better one we should have ordered an upgrade The Coke was almost transparent and didn’t taste like Coke but was replaced with “the real thing”. The food was almost room temperature and was brought to the table in different parts, there are no knives on the table and we never received the guacamole we ordered. The Carne Asada stuffed inside the Chile Relleno was stringy, dry and tasteless. Service was slow, chaotic and we had to wait for the whole meal to be delivered in stages before we could eat. The fact that one cannot rely on having a consistent standard of food quality, so one never knows if it will be a good experience or not is no longer acceptable. It’s much cheaper to eat at home, so when people choose to spend a fair bit dining out, then people expect to have a good experience for the “pleasure” of paying to eat out. It’s really too bad because Tia Rosa used to be our Mexican restaurant of choice.
