BY FAR the best ramen in Illinois. I’ve been there at least ten times. What broth did you get? I love Hokkaido.

It had probably been close to ten years since my last visit to Ramen Misoya, and I still remembered it as the best ramen I’d had in the suburbs. After moving to the city and then bouncing around to a few different states over the past few years, we were finally back home for the holidays and craving a comforting bowl of ramen. This was the first place that came to mind.

I vividly remember the lines out the door back in the day, so we made sure to get there right when they opened. We were seated immediately, which felt like a win. I also noticed their menu has expanded quite a bit since my last visit, which was a nice surprise.

And I can confidently say they are still hands down the best ramen in the suburbs. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles perfectly cooked, and everything tasted just as good as I remembered, if not better. Service was quick and friendly, and even the hot green tea (whatever brand they use) absolutely hit the spot.

Overall, a 10/10 experience. So glad this place is still just as amazing after all these years. Already looking forward to coming back.

Their Haikido Spicy Ramen is absolutely outstanding—rich, flavorful broth with the perfect level of heat, and every bite feels thoughtfully crafted. You can really taste the depth and balance that sets it apart from other ramen spots. On top of that, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Great food, great vibes, and great people. Can’t wait to come back!

It is very good, solid, ramen; however, not the best I have ever had. You can tell this place is popular. It is a small hole-in-the-wall place in the middle of a strip mall. There is not too much seating inside. So there is a kiosk set up at the doorway to place yourself on a virtual waiting line.

The service is bare bones. The menus are on the table. The servers take your order, drop off your food, and take care of the bill. Serviceable, but not much extra.

The ramen itself is above average, but not the best I have had. And maybe it is just a matter of each individual’s palate. The broth was flavorful, but I have had others with much more depth. The charu has a grilled taste. This is different than other charu I have had which had more a velvety fatty taste to them. And I absolutely do not understand the pieces of French fries in the ramen. The longer they sit in the broth, the mushier they became. And I did not like the fried potato taste with the ramen. It seemed out of place.

As popular a this ramen restaurant seems, they seem to be doing something right. As I said, to me with my palate, I think this is an above average bowl of ramen. I enjoyed my time here.

You’re welcomed in and seated as soon as you come in, which I think is super nice! The food tastes amazing, I mean my friends and I couldn’t put the chopsticks down. Plus, bowls are big enough so you get full and get to take leftovers home!

A Cozy Spot for Authentic Ramen

Don’t be fooled by the small space, the food is the highlight. Limited seating so reservation or planning ahead is recommended. The facility has a waiting room where you can add yourself to the queue and wait to be called in.

The ramen broth is rich and flavorful that carries depth in every sip. The Hokkaido Spicy Ramen (must try) was well-balanced, delivering a bold and satisfying spice level without being overwhelming. The noodles were springy, and verity of the toppings to choose from. There are lots of ramen combinations to choose from, including a vegetarian ramen option for those looking for a meat-free alternative.

Service was quick and friendly, with staff attentive to refills and special requests. Even during peak hours, they kept things moving efficiently. The restaurant is clean, with neatly arranged tables and a well-maintained dining area. Restrooms were also kept in good condition.

The entrance faces east, and the place is worth a revisit for its consistency in quality and service. I recommend this place.

Really great Ramen place.

They have several different Ramens for vegetarian, which is great. Usually, at other stores, there’s only one.

I’ve tried all their vegetarian ramen styles, and they are all fantastic. The Ise style is my favorite, it has a deep umami flavor and is quite delicious with spicy miso paste. The Tokyo style one is a bit lighter, and hints of sweetness. The Hokkaido one is quite rich and flavorful. This is overall my favorite ramen place in the Chicago Metro.

There’s plenty of individual seating as well as few tables. The service is very quick, I only had to wait a few minutes to get my bowl. Staff is pleasant and friendly.

Had a great lunch at Ramen Misoya! There isn’t much decor on the walls, but the staff is friendly and the ramen is delicious. On a cold day, this place hit the spot!

We came here for anniversary lunch based on reviews. Both the spicy vegetarian ramen were really bad. The broth has a terrible after taste. The picture shows how we left, I barely had few bites. Even after mentioning all this to the waiter, he added my ramen to the bill. Usually good restaurants take it out of your bill as basic customer service. That dude said, it’s okay it’s not for everyone.

This is in my opinion some of the best ramen in the suburbs. The wait was long but well worth it. The food was excellent. Highly recommend!
