Not bad for ramen, but would pass on the rest.
The Tonkotsu Ramen was good. The pork was a decent size although not as flavorful or fatty as other places.
The Karaage Chicken was over heavily seasoned and on the drier side. I would not order again.
The vegetable tempura was advertised as a 7 piece option, but only 5 arrived. Each was very thinly sliced and it is suitable for only 1 person. It should have been double the size and then it would have felt much better. Taste was nice. When asked about why only 5 pieces instead of 7, the waitress offered to bring 2 more. While it then matched the order, it would have been appropriate to bring the entire plate of 5 or 7 again for the extremely low cost to produce and to resolve they did not provide what was advertised.
Their Gyoza, not that great, they deep fry them. And the karaage wasn’t anything to write home about either.
But the ramen was good and the atmosphere, great decor, just like Japan
Everything I’ve had here has been super delicious! I’ve especially liked the rice bowl, curry udon, and shoyu ramen.
Beware of the cold ramen though- it really is FREEZING COLD and I wouldn’t suggest it unless you have time to wait for it to thaw.
This might sound random, but I have to express my disappointment about the change to the Ajitama egg. The jammy, marinated egg used to be life-changing — rich umami flavor, that beautiful light brown exterior — I could honestly eat a dozen of them. I even steal my boyfriend’s out of his bowl every time we go.
The last two visits, though, the egg has tasted like a plain soft-boiled egg without that distinct flavor or marinated appearance. It’s such a small detail, but it truly made the ramen experience special.
I’m not sure if something changed, but I’m hoping this is just temporary because I genuinely love this place. Please bring back the original eggs — I’ll happily update this review and continue being your most passionate egg supporter.
Sincerely,
a girl very serious about delicious eggs ❤️
I ordered the Umami Bomb Ramen. Mostly great. The broth was really flavorful and everything but the ground pork was good. If I go back, it won’t be for the ground pork.
On another note, it’s not really enough food. I was hungry again just two hours later. I could order appetizers, but the bill was already over $20 after the ramen, soda, the tip.
On the topic of service, the staff was really nice and polite, but they visited my table to take the order, deliver it, and then get the check. I was out of things to drink for more than half my visit and I didn’t even get a look. I don’t mind waiting if it’s busy, but a refill would have been nice. I may have ordered an appetizer or something more had I even had the chance.
Overall, don’t hesitate to go. It could have been an off night. The food is worth it.
Steamed buns: perfectly delicious and the bun didn’t get soggy at all.
Tonkotsu Ramen: super delicious the broth is basically a requirement for the whole plate to work together so if you think it’s bland add more broth.
Asahi beer: wasn’t ice ice cold but was cold enough to enjoy they come only in 20oz too so get to drinking.
