A small hidden gem in Glasgow that I want to highlight is Ramen Dayo. I visited the restaurant on Ashton Lane, which has limited seating, so I highly recommend reserving a table in advance.
Starting with the drinks, the grape soda wasn’t available, so I tried the melon soda instead, and it was really good. For snacks, I had the chilli and garlic edamame, which was tasty and came in a good portion. As for sides, the takoyaki was absolutely delicious and full of flavour. I would strongly suggest waiting 1–2 minutes before eating it, as the inside is piping hot and the staff don’t give a warning about this.
For the ramen, I tried the Tonkotsu. The pork broth was well-balanced and flavourful, paired with chashu pork belly, kikurage mushrooms, spring onions, and nori. It’s definitely a must-try ramen, and don’t forget to add the Aji-tama soft-boiled egg. For dessert, I tried their matcha green tea and black sesame ice cream. The matcha was okay, but the black sesame was absolutely delicious and definitely a must-try.
The service was fast and welcoming. However, I would have appreciated being asked, “How was your meal? Did you enjoy it?” rather than simply being asked, “Are you finished with your meal?”

I recently visited Ramen Dayo on my own and had the best experience. The venue itself is in a prime location – Ashton Lane – meaning it was super cosy with the fiery lights outside. The restaurant is very cool with quirky decor yet it felt like I was at home eating due to how comfortable and warm it was. The menu had lots of choice and the food was very comforting. I chose a salmon rice bowl and pumpkin croquettes. Both dishes arrived quickly, were big portions and presented very well. They tasted both fresh and delicious with tons of flavour so I was not disappointed. However, next time I’d definitely try the Ramen. The only slight negative was that bookings are for an hours slot so I felt slightly rushed trying to finish my huge meal and pay in time – I think the slots should be at least 1 hour 15 minimum. I had no time for dessert of coffee and definitely wouldn’t have had time to order a starter either. Despite this tiny issue, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would go back in a heartbeat. It’s clearly a very popular place to eat as it was busy, even on a week day. It’s a fab place to visit with friends or to dine alone and the staff made me feel very welcome – thank you!

Intimate atmosphere. Great food. Friendly service. Book early as there is not a lot of seating and you wont get in.

Pre gig meal. Got a good recommendation. Booked up, shown to a charming wee booth, cracking. Gyoza, Tokyo Ramen, brilliant. Enjoyed the whole experience. Bravo.

Food was quite good but understaffed and hard to get server’s attention. It was also very cold inside with the door open and poor insulation. Decorations and vibe is cool with lots of nice touches.

Highly recommend!
Everything from the starters to the mains was absolutely delicious—easily a 10/10. The food arrived quickly, the staff were kind and attentive, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained.
One small suggestion: considering the rich flavors of the food and the overall decor, the background music didn’t quite match the atmosphere. It’s not a major issue, but having music that complements the vibe would enhance the experience even more.
Looking forward to visiting again!

curry was great , miso was okay, too garlicky which i never thought id ever say , weird to me its an extra 2 pounds for the egg when every other ramen shop ive been too ( which is a lot ) includes it. price feels a bit steep for what you get . pork was a bit fatty for my tastes .

Damn, that’s a good ramen! Best I’ve had. I had the Devil Ramen, extra spicy and it was perfect. I love super hot and it was well seasoned and beautifully spicy. My husband loved his katsu curry too!

Tried Japanese-style ramen for the first time, and it was an unforgettable experience! I went for the Vegan Devil Ramen—the spiciest on the menu—and as an Indian spice lover, it hit just the right spot. Absolutely loved it! The Veg-Yaki? Oh my goodness, I’ve never had anything like that before—so flavorful and downright delicious. The ambiance added to the charm, with warm wood-paneled surroundings that felt super cozy and inviting. And the highlight? The Sake Bomb! It’s an absolute must-try—don’t miss it. This place is a total gem!

The Togarashi fries were unfortunately soggy and very undercooked. My server was very kind though! The lemon drink I had tasted like it had absolutely zero alcohol in it. I really wanted to enjoy this place but unfortunately it did not lead me to wanting to order ramen here. The 10% additional surprises charge is also a turn off.
