The food was delicious but the portions were small.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at RAMA, the best Thai restaurant in Rugby. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth, kindness, and genuine Thai hospitality. Small starter portions. Also would have been nice if they’ve offered prawn crackers at the start, as food took ages.

I went here with my girlfriend and it felt like discovering a hidden gem. I’m not local to rugby, and when searching around for places I booked this place on a whim. Unbeknownst to me I was in for a standout meal. I had the Duck pancakes starter with the Sea bass for main, and it was genuinely amazing.
Beyond this the atmosphere of this place is out of this world. The chairs and tables are covered in these intricate relief carvings. The tables covered by a sheet of glass. The walls are covered in more incredibly detailed relief carvings.
Every detail felt luxurious, the embroidered cloth napkins, the intricate vegetable garnish on most the dishes, and the overwhelming amount of detail and thought that had seemingly been put into this place. Honestly when I walked in I think my wallet had a panic attack. But no, on top of all the luxury the prices are very affordable. I think the total bill for a 3 course meal for me and my girlfriend came out to about £45, including two drinks.
I recommend to anyone who is in the area.

We have just had dinner here and had such a lovely evening. The food was incredibly authentic and full of flavour. The stir-fried duck was perfectly cooked, and the green curry was rich, fragrant, and absolutely delicious — both were standout dishes.
The service and atmosphere made the experience even better. The portions were perfect and the dishes came out in great time. My only regret is not discovering this gem sooner! We will definitely be back.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, although the water feature had a slightly funny smell but we didn’t sit near it so that was fine.
The food was very nice, but the portions were a bit small. I enjoyed the sweet and sour tofu with rice. People with me had Thai green curry, massaman, prawn tempura and ribs. The ribs were very little and not so great, but the rest was little but nice.
The staff were rushing around, I think they need more staff. We were accidentally given alcohol instead of a Mocktail, which was remedied quickly but not good for us. Again, I think they were understaffed.
I’d definitely have the sweet and sour from here again, and I’d recommend eating here. Not a wow, but a very good albeit expensive meal. The set menu looked good value though!

Disappointing experience overall. The food was bland and lacked the bold flavors you’d expect from Thai cuisine. Portions were small for the price, and everything tasted rushed rather than freshly made. Service was slow and inattentive, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. The atmosphere didn’t make up for it either. The restaurant had an ‘dirty drain’ smell hence we had a takeaway rather than eat in. Unfortunately, this place didn’t live up to expectations, and I wouldn’t return.

If i could give less than one star i would. I had the seafood oodle noodles or whatever it was and it was absaloutely disgusting! Noodles were thick and gritty and there was no seasoning on it what so ever just spice. The seafood consisted of prawns that still had the shell on them, mussels which were okay (you cant really mess up a mussle) and these rubbery plastic bits which was the ‘squid’. Absaloute rip off and nasty food will never go here again

Been there first time and really enjoyed! Service is on high level, very friendly and polite staff. Design of restaurant is amazing, very special and unique atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Food is amazing, very nice cocktails. Wide range of meals. Definitely will go again! Highly recommended place
