I love hole in the wall joints that have been around forever, but they’ve got to have good food to offset how dated and grungy they are. So, I was disappointed to have had the most bland, unappetizing meal of my life that I only ate 1/6 of because it was so terrible. I got the rolled tacos with rice and beans. The rice was standard, the beans were grey and flavorless, the guacamole was avocado water basically, and the rolled tacos were incredibly sad, and tasted like the cheapest, off-brand frozen ones you can buy. I took the compressed tiny tube of meat out just to eat that, and it tasted like a corn tortilla. For all I know, they actually were frozen ones. Completely disappointed, and that’s saying something given my expectations of it being at least of a “Filiberto’s” quality.

This is from TODAY after going back even after the review was submitted below this one. Today my friend and I went in. I had introduced my friend to the young man working the front counter. I ordered first, of course I order the same order EVERY TIME “bean and little bit of rice to thicken the beans, NO cheese”. I told them to be sure no cheese because I cannot have dairy. The last time my son’s picked up food from them they brought back beans and cheese was all over everything. We full-time RV and it would have been a long way back. So instead, I peeled the cheese off everything…and had a yucky stomach in the morning, of course! Right after, I ordered my best friend ordered the SAME thing, she even repeated the same thing that she ordered bean and rice burrito NO cheese. We sit down to eat and of course mine has rice in it. No cheese praise the Lord. She goes to eat hers and there’s NO rice. She went to ask them for a small amount of rice and they straight up said NO to her. I walked over and asked the young man for the little bit of rice and he gave me an attitude saying she didn’t order a been and rice burrito. I WAS OVER AT THE VEGGIE AND SAUCE BAR AND SHE ASKED FOR THE EXACT SAME THING I ORDERED. They began to argue with me!!! WOW!!! Do NOT go here. Make the extra effort and go to Juanita’s just around the corner! They are a family owned restaurant and do NOT ARGUE WITH THEIR PATRONS! I am DONE AND WILL never be going back and spending the amount of money that I spend every month 3-4 times a month. MIND UOU my friend and I travel FULL TIME in our RV’s and people ask us ALL THE TIME where to eat! We are also part of an organization here in town, very active in the community and members of a local church with a lot of people who ask us where do you like to go have Mexican food??? I will NOT SEND THEM HERE TO THIS PLACE EVER!!! This next review was written over a year ago…OVER $8 for a bean and rice burrito!! $3 for a TINY scoop of RICE!! EXPENSIVE!!!

We went late, the atmosphere was quiet, the service was good and the staff was friendly. My husband loved his meal, I thought mine was okay. I would call this family and I prefer street style. Prices are good and the portions were more than enough, we both had leftovers.

Kinda messy, it was mid day and they were barely set up . surprised there wasn’t a lot of drink variety but the Pina was alright. Very awkward atmosphere.
Ordered Carne asada fries and it was just so blah. Barely any sour cream and guac. No pico. Just cheese meat and fries. It was awkward not going to lie. Not coming back.

I personally would NOT even give a rating on this place in Cottonwood AZ. Used to go to on in Phoenix. Way better. The kid behind the counter was rude. Then the owner backed him up then they were rude to my friend who’s been going there longer. This was my first visit. Sad No more Business to me and Would NOT recommend them. PS the CUSTOMER is Always RIGHT. I know what I ordered. Did not receive it. RUDE !

Probably the most authentic Mexican food menu in cottonwood…. the only place I can get tacos lengua!!

The guys up front are always friendly and keep the place nice… although the decor could use improvement but dont let it detract from the awesome food…check it out!
