This is a great spot to grab ramen in the area. So good for a cold Winter’s day! My partner and I dropped by a bit after peak lunch time and were seated right away. The menu is straightforward and while I am not a vegetarian, it was nice to see a good selection of vegetarian options. The ramen itself had really good flavor and everything was cooked well.

Had the chilli cucumber, karaage, Quartz (chicken based soup) and Ruby (miso prawn based soup).

The sauce on the chilli cucumber was great, add more of the chilli oil that is provided on the table for more spice if you’d like. Maybe try smashing the cucumbers before tossing it in the sauce to let the sauce seep into the cucumber.

Karaage was tasty and authentic.

The soup for the quartz tasted more carrot forward, not sure if it is the standard recipe there but definitely heavy on the carrot.

The soup for ruby tasted amazing, subtle prawn with umami flavours, well seasoned and balanced.

Noodles were cooked well, not sure if the chashu was supposed to be an add on but we had chicken breast as the protein

I had an amazing experience at Rakkan Ramen! The RUBY Shrimp Miso was absolutely delicious – rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The shrimp were cooked just right, and the broth had that deep umami taste that makes you want to finish every last drop. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was friendly and fast. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

We waited one hour to just to get seated and another hour for some Ramen noodles. One large table that got there same time as us already got their food and left. We stay waited only got our appetizers and poke bowls. Then we noticed 3 other tables that got there before us already got their Ramen noodles. I understand it might be busy not enough server but they didn’t even come to our table to even acknowledge us or even to check on our food to see what the hold up was. We waited so long we paid for what already came out and left. Can’t even you guys a review if the Ramen noodles since we didn’t even get a chance to eat it. Overall my experience there was not good at all.

I honesty was not expecting to find a great ramen place in Truckee, but here it is. Rakkan more than holds its own against top shelf Bay Area ramen destinations and in many cases, edges them out with their flavorful umami broth. Atmosphere is chill and laid back with friendly staff. This is always a stop on the map whenever I’m making a trip out to Tahoe. Conveniently located next to Tesla Superchargers as well! Highly recommend.

The takoyaki was mostly dough with barely any octopus, and the salmon poke was just okay. But the Pearl ramen totally made up for it—the broth was rich and flavorful. Service was friendly too.

We got take out, quartz Ramen and a California roll. The Quartz Ramen was good enough. I’d give it 3.5 and it will satisfy the craving if in need. The Cali roll was a little toooo simple and a little funny/sad. I think they may have missed a few ingredients haha. Anyways, I’d recommend in a pinch but go in with tempered expectations.

Review of Rakkan Ramen

WOW! I can’t say enough good things about Rakkan Ramen—this place is an absolute gem! If you’re planning to visit on the weekends, be sure to arrive early or right when they open, as they get booked up fast. With limited seating, getting there at opening time is definitely the way to go.

The food is phenomenal! Despite being a small “hole in the wall” spot, everything from the ambiance to the flavors is top-notch. They may be new, but their dishes taste like they’ve perfected them over years. Each bowl of ramen was packed with flavor, and it’s clear that they use quality ingredients.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Rakkan Ramen is a must-visit. The friendly service adds to the experience, making you feel right at home as soon as you step through the door. Tasty food and welcoming staff—what more could you ask for?

I highly recommend Rakkan Ramen to anyone craving delicious ramen. Don’t miss out on this fantastic dining experience!

We went in for a casual comforting dinner after a full day at Lake Tahoe, and we did get that. When we walked in, there were two tables already sat and it seemed very peaceful. We were greeted with warm smiles and friendly attitudes and seated right away. Shortly after we sat down, family after family after family came in- only with one server for all fifteen tables. Kate is Super Woman! She walked calmly from table to table, swiftly taking orders, dropping drinks off, and handled the big rush with graceful ease. My partner and I ordered a five piece pork gyoza to share, and a bowl of ramen each. The gyoza came out hot and swift, and was absolutely delicious, especially with a squirt of lemon and soy sauce. The food runner dropped the plates and gyoza with a clatter. My partner ordered the Amber ramen and loved every single sip of it. I had the Garnet and it was so filling and comforting especially as temperatures started to drop outside. As we filled up, we slowed down our pace, trying to make more space so we could finish attacking our entrees. The food runner came back to drop off the check and tried to take away our food without asking if it was safe to do so yet. Startled, we politely refused stating that we were still eating. He nodded silently and went back to work. In the meantime, he sat another couple across from us, who after waiting for a few minutes without being greeted by the server walked out.

I understand what it’s like to work a busy rush at a restaurant, and our server Kate was doing her absolute best by herself. I also remember what it was like to be a teenager working my first job and having to be told to be social with guests and check on their experience while dining. The food was exceptional albeit simple and fantastic. The restaurant was clean and the ambience was peaceful and enjoyable. The service was good, but you could tell they’re understaffed and some of the younger staff members need an education in what “food service” means outside of a box you can check off a checklist. We will be back because it’s peaceful and the food is wonderful and I know with time, they will only get better.
