Chicken: one choice. Fresh, not frozen, hand battered with a mild tasting breading, not fried up dark. The oil uptake from the fryer is also light in flavor with no particularly strong or off taste. The chicken was very hot to the touch in temperature, was told they make to order, and do not store under heat lamps. The size of the strips, 1.9 ounce on average according to the posted nutrition chart, certainly bigger than Guthrie’s, only slightly larger than the industry chain leader, Chick fil A. I really liked the texture of the chicken, not stringy, much better than the frozen strips most chains use. Mild flavor, personally it needs some zing.
Greg helped us today at the register. He was really patient with us since it was my husband’s first time eating there. I snagged the 3 piece naked combo and my husband got the chicken sandwich. He is a cheese lover so he was bummed that he couldn’t add cheese to his sandwich but he still had high hopes that it will be good.
My husband’s meal did come out first. For some reason they dropped the ball on my meal. There were quite a few people that got their meals ahead of me that ordered after us. I wasn’t sweating it but I knew Greg was on top of it. As soon as my food was ready, Greg hand delivered my meal which was nice since they usually call you up to grab your food. It was nice that Greg made sure we were aware that he didn’t forget about me.
What I noticed last time I ate at RC was how small the tenders were when you ordered them naked. I only got the tenders last time and at 2 bucks a tender, I really felt like I was being ripped off. Today I got the 3 piece naked but was given 4 pieces of chicken. Honestly, I don’t know if I got the extra piece of chicken for them dropping the ball or because the chicken tenders were small. I guess the next time we come in, that will answer my million dollar question.
While we were eating, Greg dropped off another sandwich meal for us to take home. He wanted to make sure that our experience was good since it was my husband’s first meal there. I appreciate that Greg went above and beyond to make sure we left happy. The customer service Greg gave us today was fantastic! Only if all customer service can be like Greg’s. I know a lot of businesses would prosper!
I enjoyed the vibe of RC. The dico balls, the music and the chill atmosphere of the joint. It was fun experiencing all of that with my husband. My chicken was tender. The fries were crispy and salty. I got to see what the hype was all about with the bread and Canes sauce. I’m happy I waited to eat inside so I can actually get the whole experience. I look forward to coming back and having more naked tendies.

Meh – Toast was okay, don’t see the hype, nor need for another carb on the plate. Sauce was just okay as well, they should offer blue cheese, BBQ, honey-mustard & buffalo sauces. Coleslaw was mid. I appreciate that it was not overly sweet, but I think there was a bit too much raw onion included. Suggestion, be sure to ask for light ice. Coke not as good as McDonald’s (yes, there is a noticeable difference).
.
Cons – Some hiccups in drive-thru, not a smooth ordering experience, was minorly frustrating and not quick. Windows confusing, no one ahead of me, but I was told to park past the 2nd window. Tenders large, but thin, could be much more plump. Fries were slightly underdone and did not hold their heat well.
.
Verdict- I would probably plan on returning if they offered a more variety of sauces, sides and desserts, but I understand they have a simple business model that they follow that works for them.
The fries were just okay, nothing special. From the moment I walked in, the experience felt chaotic. No one asked if I had been there before, and there was no clear direction on where to go to order, which made things confusing.
I understand they just opened, but I was expecting something more decent. The environment is very small with limited seating, and managers were standing around looking lost rather than helping direct customers. The music was also way too loud, making it uncomfortable to enjoy the meal.
Overall, I was expecting much more from a place that everyone seems to love. This experience was a zero for me, and I won’t be returning.
The fast-food restaurant has a drive-thru and seating indoors and outdoors. You order your food and sit down at a table, but there are servers who serve and pick up your food after you are finished! The servers even come to your table and ask if you need anything while you eat. So, it is a fast-food restaurant with sit-down restaurant service, unlike typical fast-food places. The atmosphere was similar to Red Robin or Applebee’s where they have unique memorabilia such as an Elvis picture, Boise schools sports jerseys, and other unique things like a salmon, neon lemonade glass light, and a picture of Cane III, their white lab mascot. They also have disco balls on the ceiling, like you are going to a party!
For the food, I ordered a basket of chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, cole slaw, toast, and unsweet tea. They had fountains with sweet or unsweet tea and also a soda fountain. The fry sauce and the toast were the best I’ve ever eaten. The chicken fingers were perfect! They didn’t have all the excess crusty, salty skin you would expect from store-bought fried chicken. Their chicken fingers had mild fried coating in a nice golden color and they were real chicken.
I don’t typically eat a lot of fried food at home. So, going out for fried chicken is like Christmas! The experience was also like ordering fish and chips like they do on the East Coast or Midwest. I’m so glad Boise is finally getting some more fried chicken restaurants because I like their unique menu items such as sweet tea, toast, and crinkle-cut fries and because it feels like a treat to get this kind of food, not just any old meal.
