Hyde never heard of “Raise the Roost” before, but it was the only option besides 7-Eleven roller dogs at the Travel Plaza. And I don’t do roller dogs.
I ordered a chicken/egg/cheese biscuit, and my husband had chicken breast & thigh with two little cornbreads. The whole bill was about $13, which I thought was quite reasonable for the amount & quality of food we received. And the attendant who served us ( I believe his name was Herb) was all kinds of personality! He was professional, welcoming, quick-witted, & downright jovial!
My sandwich was Goldilocks-perfect. Biscuit was crispy & tender, not dry (a difficult balance to achieve in “fast food.”) The egg was good & hot, and the chicken tender was surprisingly large, with an excellent meat:breading ratio. Hubby’s chicken breast & thigh were truthfully a bit too greasy, but he said they were meaty, moist & flavorful. All in all, a satisfying meal for a very reasonable cost.

Walked in 8:45pm. The black woman behind the counter says “We closed” ummmm it says 9pm on google but ok. She was also coughing aggressively and just coughing into the open. Got a chicken sandwich from the hot rack. Was warm but you could tell it was made hours ago. Will not spend my money here again in the future.

my food wasnt ready (they hadnt started on it yet). needed to batter the chicken tenders still. the couter was filthy. personnel were great, friendly, etc. ended up getting a refund then settling for an overdone bacon cheeseburger. never again.

My friend said it was the best breakfast chicken sandwich she had ever had. I questioned her judgment… be sure to have something to drink. My sandwich was over 2 hours old based on the time stamp. Perhaps they are better fresh.
