Great local gem. Authentic German dishes passed down from owners mother. Schnitzel, red cabbage and german potato salad were sehr gut (really good)! Same with the Jager schnitzel and spaetzel my friend ordered! Very friendly service and atmosphere. Will definately return!

Came in for a quick lunch and everything was great! I had the bratwurst burger and Helga’s Famous German potato salad. It was so delicious! I finished up with the cherry cheese strudel for dessert and it was amazing! Such a cute little spot! Will definitely be back!

Spent an evening here with my wife because we love German food. Was hoping to try find a place to replace Das Boot camp in norman, as it has closed down. It was valentines day, and we did the special, 2 Schnitzels and a small desert for $35. We both got “special” schnitzels, so we expected a small up charge, so that was fine. (around $5) The food came out, and it was significantly over cooked. Flavor was fine, but the meat was so tough and dry that it was just not good. My wife got Rahm schnitzel, and the gravy they used was very bland and plain. We understand, being “foodies” that restaurants can have bad nights. It happens. Then we received our bill. $74! $40 for the 2 plates. $5 for my 2 Dr Peppers, $8 for the desert that was supposed to be free, a $5 “tariff” fee that was not disclosed prior to ordering, $8 for a glass of beer, and tax. Needless to say, we wont be returning, although the owner and atmosphere were quite enjoyable. The price and quality were not on a par with each other. I would GLADLY pay $80 for good German, like Royal Bavaria… but not here

Amazingly great food. The winter veggie soup was a bowl of perfectly blended vegetables with Bratwurst and a delicious blend of seasoings. The cherry strudel was one of the best I have ever had. The service is on point. Promptly greeted and even tbough we had never been before, made us feel welcome like old friends comimg to visit for lunch.

Stopped in for lunch and decided on the reuben sandwich and potato salad, both of which were very good and with a homemade taste. Having just moved to the area, the visit warrants another to try some other menu items.

Love this little place! The Reuben sandwiches are authentic and have a fantastic zing from the homemade thousand island dressing. I also got a Prancing Queen to end my day on a good note. Drink prices are very competitive with the other businesses in the neighborhood, and I would recommend coming here to get something tasty before Pride. Service was prompt and polite.

My husband and I decided to support local and ventured to the gayborhood and sadly were super disappointed. The owner himself waited on us during our visit and was very unfriendly didn’t engage with us as we attempted small talk and acted like it was an inconvenience for us to ask about the “bistro” The food was less than sub par. We ordered the pasta bake special. The pasta was dry as dry could be tasted like noodles and cheap hot dogs with some other weird sausage in it. it was topped with mini pretzel bites that were rock hard like hockey pucks and ketchup. My husband got the soup of the day and the noodles were pure mush and it tasted like the owner just dumped cans of beans and tomatoes in the soup no real flavor or seasonings. We ordered carrot cake to finish out our meal that was the driest carrot cake I have ever had in time. The owner was more concerned with drinking on the job then taking care of customers. Told us he was a full time pharmacist and gave that up to open the bistro I think he should keep his pharmacist job unfortunately. The rainbow bistro could use some major improvements in service and quality.

Great place to enjoy a local bite! Always squeaky clean, good food, and prompt service. Great authentic German potato salad, schnitzel, and bacon cheeseburgers. If you can catch the Southwest Casserole special…get some! Great looking merch too! My family has made this place a regular staple.
