Excellent seafood! The oysters in December were plump, not briny, slightly sweet and very easy to eat. The calamari tasted fresh and plumb, and the frying didn’t feel greasy. The mains are large and either you have a big appetite or you’ll box some. The jambalaya is reliable and fine. The crusted flounder was pleasant too, with the veggies cutting some of the sweetness that came from the crusted fish. Not much personnel for the service but it was efficient.

We visited this place for an early dinner after one of the museums. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We don’t wait long for our food and it was very good. There was plenty of seating available as well. The hushpuppies were excellent as well as the stuffed shrimp.

If you’re craving for authentic sea food away in a town that’s land locked I think you have found the perfect place. Nestled close to the downtown but away from all the hullabaloo you’ll find Ragin Reef. Which from the looks of it looks like small family owned restaurant/bar.
The staff is friendly and asks for your preferences and allergens before proceeding to refer the specials. We ordered the Lobster Queso, Crab Cakes and Fish and Chips.
All made perfectly the chefs know that they are doing and I demand the owners give them a raise for creating such a beautiful meal. Becauze all three meals we ate had a unique flavor ! Loved each one and we wiped clean our plates with gusto.
Also our host encouraged us to get the dessert which at that time didn’t seem like a good idea but I’ve posted an after photo and you can see how we devoured that too. It was key lime pie.
Yummy!!

This is the second time I’ve been to the restaurant and the best. I didn’t care for it the first time but I had friends who talked to me in to going again. I’m glad we went. The fish and chips were delicious and very big portion size. My friend got a pasta dish with shrimp sausage and she absolutely loved it. It was kind of busy so it took a while for the wait staff to get around to us. It was a little loud for Friday night nothing you wouldn’t expect of a small place. Would definitely recommend the food at this establishment. The food came out very quickly after we had ordered.

I love this little place please dont go or tell anyone it will get too big and popular then lol. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, food is always on point. Very affordable, I spent 100 myself and treated myself wife was out of town so daddy ate very well. I got the double crab cakes as usual have to the fish tacos were incredible no surprise and the oysters a couple of root beers for like 90 with a decent tip. I’ll be back soon atmosphere is super chill similar to a diner or grandma’s kitchen the staff always has a smile and is happy to be there which helps the experience and there tip. Definitely a must try in Frederick high quality sea food

I am from the Gulf Coast and always enjoy seafood with Cajun influence. I expect blackened or Cajun spice to have some kick. The Ragin Reef did not disappoint. My husband had the salmon, while I had the scallop entree. The seafood was fresh, perfectly cooked, and had just the perfect amount of spice on the scallops. The salmon was cooked medium with perfect, moist, flaky chunks as you expect from perfectly cooked Salmon. Kuudos to the chef! The sides were so good…beans and rice and sautéed squash and zucchini. We will return and plan to try everything on the menu. The staff were kind, and you can tell they loved their job . I highly recommend. They have their own parking lot, so it is easy to visit for anyone who has difficulty walking long distances from a parking garage. The place is casual and an enjoyable experience for the whole family. I loved the Classic Rock music playing softly in the background.

It’s late Thursday night and I can’t sleep.
I watch re-runs of Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey. Mostly mundane and boring, but then someone takes a chance and serves him a plate of english Fish and Chips. I thought for sure he was going to tear them apart, but he unexpectedly loved them them.
And that’s when it sunk in. I NEED some Fish & Chips as soon as possible (I’m easily influenced).
So the next day I looked into who makes the best F&C’s in Frederick. The name that came up the most was Ragin’ Reef.
It’s Frederick, so I didn’t expect great British Fish & Chips locally. But I was completely proved wrong.
The next day we B-Lined it to RR for some F&C with minimal expectations. The restaurant tables were full so we had to sit at the bar, which at first was a bummer, but ended up being a blessing. Noah was our bartender and he was absolutely AMAZING. So nice, knowledgeable , and he guided us through the menu since it was our first time there. Literally, could not have been more friendly and helpful. Fantastic guy!
The Salad/vegetables arrived and, although I was skeptical at first, the tangy dressing was a perfect match for the salad.
Next came the Entrées. The Fish Tacos were good. I feel like the fish needs much more seasoning and less tomatoes, but overall enjoyable.
The star of the show was the Fish & Chips. Absolutely awesome! The fish was crispy, perfectly seasoned. and piping hot. 10/10!! And I lived in London for a while so I know a great F&C when I taste it. Could not have been better. Even the Tartar sauce was amazing (I took extra home). Yes, I wish the chips were bigger like in the UK instead of French fries, but come on – it’s all about the fish, really. And they even had Malt Vinegar!! YES!!
Definitely check out Ragin’ Reef. It’s food and service lives up to it’s high ratings.
Love this place and will definitely be back.

Went with some work friends as a treat, easy parking is always part of our decision and being able to park right out front works well. The food was terrific. I had the shrimp Ragin tacos which were so tasty, shrimp cooked perfectly and the sauce had a zip to it. My friends had the wicked pasta and they bothe loved it and the serving was ample enough for them to take some home for later. The at is here is just okay, wish they could warm up the decor as it lets down the quality of the food. The server was very nice it he did rush us a bit which on a slow lunch day was not appreciated. Will be back but will check out the other dining room as I have been here 3-4 times and have only eaten in the first room and I am beginning to want a bit more ambience.
