My husband and I stayed at the lodge for a weekend away and we went to dinner at Rafter’s and absolutely loved it. Beautiful views, good service, and even better food! Their appetizers are the bomb and we loved the selection on the menu. We did make a reservation, which I do recommend especially on weekends, and we were seated right away. We will definitely go for dinner here next time we stay at the lodge!

View was amazing. Atmosphere was amazing. And that was it. I don’t recommend. We waited 15 minutes to see the host before we were seated. Only 3 other tables of people there at that time. We ordered 2 salads, a kids pasta, and a kids Mac and cheese. It took an hour to get our food and when it did come it was all cold. Other people came after us, ate and left while we still waited. We also asked for a refill and it took 20 minutes for a refill of drinks.

We got here at about 1pm on a Saturday December afternoon. There were only 4 tables that we could see with patrons. However, those tables were very large. We waited 7 or 8 minutes for somebody to greet and seat us. It turned out the girl that was waiting on all of these tables was the only one there. So she apologized and sat us. She was very friendly and took our drink orders immediately. There was a manager lady there that was helping her. The menu is very small. We both had difficulty finding something that we wanted, but we drove an hour to get here just for lunch and to look at the themed Christmas trees, so we definitely had to eat here. My husband ended up getting up a mesquite lime chicken sandwich. He said it tasted okay but the chicken was very dry. I got what they called a smoked turkey parm sandwich. It was very odd as the cheese was not on the sandwich. It was fried to the outside of the bread. The sandwich would have been really good if it just had regular cheese on the inside. But this made a little bit of an odd flavor and definitely a weird texture. It wasn’t bad though. And I would get it again just because there’s nothing else on the menu that would interest me. I wish they would publish their menu on their website before people drive all the way down here to eat. It took about 40 minutes to get our food, but the waitress did explain that It was gonna take a long time due to the very large tables that ordered before us. This was understandable, but the lengthy delay in getting the food did cause us not to get out of there until 2:20 when the restaurant closes at 2. Our waitress was doing her best though and I assume the kitchen cook was as well. The seats at the table are very comfortable and it’s a nice view of the lake. I say the biggest con is that the menu is too small and it’s not on their website. So you don’t know what you’re going to get to you get there (the menus I saw pictured online in other reviews were not what we had offered today)

The food was far below mediocre.
$16 for $4 worth of fries that were supose to be loaded.
Wendy’s is much better.
Then the nachos…canned chicken and hardly any toppings.
These two dishes were the worst I’ve had all year eating out.
The bartender was nice.
I did also not expect our food to be served in styraphome take out dishes.
It’s really too bad because the place is nice however the food service was most definitely not.
Needs new management in my opinion.
Anyone who would allow food like this should not be in charge of anything. I would frankly be embarrassed.

Kind of a stinker. If you can get Wendy’s delivered….just do that. It was the only place to eat at the lodge on a Monday evening. Against my better judgement I brought my two young kids to eat there instead of taking it to go back to the room. I peaked in first to make sure it wasn’t too crowded, such that it would be slow. There was only one other couple seated. My father, the kids and I waited 10 minutes to get to our lake view table. The view is awesome (best part). Unfortunately there was a fly on the inside of the window which was an annoying bummer. The waitress was physically handicapped but trying her best. Overall spent $75 (still tipped!) for two mid level burgers, Cooked Kraft Mac and cheese, and burnt chicken fingers. The full experience took an hour and a half.

We too were a little concerned about the negative reviews recently but just had to go because it was our 37th wedding anniversary and this was where we stayed our honeymoon night… We just had to go back there was no question about it.
And we are so glad we did what a pleasant surprise all I can say is the negatives must have caught them at a bad night. Wait staff was very attentive and the food was excellent and the view was outstanding. I had the salmon and my wife had the Tuscan Chicken both were really really good. Also their wine was limited and was of the screw cap variety but honestly I just had a $59 bottle of wine last week and couldn’t tell the difference. I believe their house brand was Stone Creek out of Napa valley and it was very very good. My wife could tell the difference in a $60 bottle of wine but I could not in the house Chardonnay.
All I can say is I’m glad we went and it was a pleasant surprise. What I can say is that yes the prices might have been a couple dollars higher than what you’re used to but you have to remember that these food service companies pay a lease to state of Ohio. if anybody is greedy it is the state of Ohio because of their exorbitant prices on these leases… Same reason there are no concession stands at the State Park beaches… The state hires the food out and nobody can afford the states lease prices!!! Whoever runs the restaurant here well done you were able to serve an excellent meal, a very good domestic wine, and a clean beautiful environment with excellent wait staff!

They take a very long time to seat people, even when the restaurant is not even half full. Once seated, however, the service is great and the lake view even better (we even saw 2 deer jumping around in front of the restaurant).
They have a limited menu due to the epidemic, but the ~$12 burgers are fresh. The meat does lack flavor though, they should season the beef itself instead of just relying on toppings.

Service is a bit slow, but it is not peak season and they only had one waitress. Love the view! I am there frequently. Absolutely the best flat bread!
