Food was delicious, service was exceptional, and the restaurant was very clean. Great atmosphere & friendly staff! Hubs and I each had the small brisket sandwich & fries. Brisket had a good smokey flavor, sauce was spot-on. The fries had a bit of spicey heat that was just right. If you get the chance to eat here, you won’t be disappointed!

Had lunch with the family 11-29-25. Our waitress was polite and handled our order well, with a party of 6. Food was delicious! Atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. The sweet potato fries were delightful too! They serve beer but I opted for water.

We came here after visiting Witcha Falls and some other places in the area. This restaurant was our first choice after seeing the reviews on maps. The decor and ambience is very cool. The food is good, though the brisket was a bit dry, but the taste was good. The ribs however was very moist and full of flavor. I like the sign inside that says “seat yourself”.. The restrooms were clean. We will definitely go again if are in the area again.

Great BBQ stop just on the outside of Wichita Falls. Brisket was so tender it just fell apart. Fried okra was great and the Cajun fries (fried jalapeno slices) are a must have.

Overall, the food was okay. My wife and I really enjoyed the corn and ham and I liked the gator balls pretty well, even though they felt overpriced for what we got, but the rest of the meat, especially the ribs, were dry and bland and the fries were limp and bland, as well. The margarita I had was good, the waitstaff was friendly, but the food, which is what you’re really there for, left a lot to be desired.

The only impressive part of our first time being here was ONE person actually acknowledged us. Everyone else saw and turned their heads. We ate because we were hungry and passing through, next time we will pass by. This was not the BBQ we were expecting, meat was
bland. The okra was not appetizing at all! It was soft and flavorless. We will definitely wait until we get back home to the Stockyards next time! Thank you to the young man who served us! You, we appreciate.

Good, old school, Texas BBQ. The jalapeño poppers were acceptable (which is high prase from me, as I hate jalapeños). The pulled pork was very nice. I was dining with a group and everyone reported complete satisfaction with their meals.
The staff were friendly and attentive. They place was family friendly and relaxed.
A good stop.
The Bubba likes it. Do Recommend.

Very good food. I had the turkey bbq sandwich and my partner had the roadkill, we ate every crumb.

I’ve been here a few times before. It had been a while so I made it in tonight.

Not too busy, but it is Football Friday night. Picked a table and the menus are already there. Madilyn came and got my drink order.

I went with no appetizers as I was getting extra sides. I ordered the 3-meat plate with ribs add-on. Requested the sausage, sliced brisket, smoked ham, and a couple of baby back ribs. The sides were pinto beans, potato salad, hand cut fries, and Tchoupitoulas Gumbo.

The wait was not too long, better than average. Presentation on the plate was nice. Check the photos. All the meats and sides were great, very tasty.

I absolutely loved the hand cut fries, they were seasoned just right. The real surprise for me was the cup of Tchoupitoulas Gumbo. It was quite delicious. I’m definitely going for the larger gumbo meal next time.

All kinds of cool things adorn the walls and hang from the ceiling. Above average noise with all the different conversation volumes. Very clean and lit for character (night).

Marilyn and Trinity were the best tonight. They helped to make the experience enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning.

If you’re looking for the ultimate Texas BBQ experience, Rafter J BBQ is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with that warm Southern hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The rustic, inviting ambiance sets the perfect tone for an authentic BBQ feast, complete with the smoky aroma of slow-cooked meats filling the air.

Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal! Whether you go for the brisket, ribs, sausage, or pulled pork, every bite is packed with bold, smoky flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The sides are just as impressive, with classics rounding out the meal. And don’t even get me started on the homemade sauces—each one adds just the right kick to an already perfect plate.

The staff? Incredibly friendly and welcoming. They treat you like family and go above and beyond to make sure you have an amazing experience. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re a regular, they make you feel like you belong.
