Food prices match expectations as a snack bar/restaurant in a zoo. You will pay premiums for food here obviously.
Staff is courteous and helpful, even if beset by large families. Wait times are reasonable at peak hours. Seating is clean and cool even at peak lunch hours.
Food selection is slightly limited and ymmv. I found the black bean to be a good example of the vegetarian option, but the buffalo chicken is a little basic. Overall, your choices in zoo are limited, but you will be treated well here.

Update: The food was excellent a few months ago. Today the menu is completely different. Everything was cold. None of the prices have changed except for in increasing and the food was horrible. I would probably avoid this place at all cost. We literally threw away more than half of our food. It was microwaved. Super disappointing.
The food here was fresh and there was no wait. Love the options for all the drinks including slushies and alcohol. They are also selling plastic free disposable water bottles from Aquafina.

Amazing food and great service! The flavors were spot on, and the atmosphere was cozy. A perfect spot for dinner—highly recommend!

Not bad food not too expensive. But I would recommend it if in a party of more than 2 would be better to bring your own food . And yes you can bring coolers into the zoo, or you can leave to go to your vehicle as long as you get a stamp so you can go back into the zoo.

The food was great, hot and ready ! It is a bit overpriced but that is to be expected at places like this and the money goes towards the upkeep of our Zoo! My sons and I got 2 orders of chicken tenders, a buffalo chicken sandwich, two orders of fries and 2 large lemonades for $47.00.

You don’t expect much from a zoo restaurant, and what you expect is pretty much what you get. The menu is limited, burgers and hot dogs, but they do offer a vegetarian version with a black bean burger with pepper jack cheese that is pretty good. I had to order mine without the bun due to allergies, and they didn’t have any utensils to give me, but I made do. If you just need to grab something to keep the kids from starving, zoo food works. Just don’t expect a satisfying delicious meal.

Awful, ordered and they disregarded to tell us that there was a wait until after we paid. If we had to wait then I wouldn’t have picked it. Told us it’d be 3 minutes. Ended up waiting over 20 minutes for my loaded tater tots. Which didn’t even end up being loaded.

I ordered two chicken sandwiches. They came plain grilled chicken breast with nothing else. No lettuce, tomato-nothing. I asked for some, they said no. The chicken was tiny. About 1/3 of the size of the bun and dry as dust. So, two meager chicken sandwiches, two orders of fries and two bottles of water = $30. I’ll bring lunch next time.

This is one is the resturants in the KC Zoo. It is located at the entrance of the Africa section. There is seating inside and lots of outdoor seating. Like at all tourist area, the food is priced too high for the quality of food serviced but the food is at least edible and after walking around for three hours you just want food. Our group order hotdogs, chicken strips, hamburgers, and French fries. The fries were the best part my meal. The facility was clean and the employees were courteous and professional.
