Rafagino’s is under new ownership. For context we have been loyal customers for 15 years and while every business undergoes some bumps when changing hands here are 5 reasons I would not go back. 1. The dining room lighting has become harsh. Part of Rafagino’s charm has been that you don’t feel like you’re in a suburban strip mall. 2. The new handheld digital devices the waitstaff now uses to take orders. Cheapens the experience and the server doesn’t make eye contact because they’re trying to type. 3. The “bread”. Previously classic Italian bread with butter or olive oil was served. I don’t know what this was but it was not good. Consistency of cornbread but had maybe pimento in it, and served with unrecognizable spread that was oddly spicy. 4. The pace of the meal. Appetizers took forever and once they arrived we still didn’t have our drinks,which we ordered first thing. And we only got our drinks because I pointed it out to the waitstaff that they were missing. 5. Taste. You used to be able to smell the garlic from the parking lot. While several menu items remain the portion size has gotten smaller and the taste of everything needed more salt, acid, garlic etc.
I’m not opposed to change, updating a business is not a bad thing. But these notable changes took away from our previous stellar experience at Rafagino’s.

Last night’s dinner at Rafagino was nothing short of extraordinary. I ordered the Halibut, and from the first bite, OMGoodness… I was transported back to my time living in Sicily. The flavors were beautifully balanced-delicate, sweet, savory and deeply satisfying. The fish was perfectly cooked, nestled atop a creamy risotto with a drizzle of sweet chili cream that added just the right touch of sweetness.
Having lived in Sicily for four months, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for authentic Italian cuisine, and Rafagino absolutely delivered. The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming, with attentive service that made the entire evening feel special.
This particular dish reminded me of meals I’d savor in a Sicilian trattoria-fresh, vibrant, and full of soul. Rafagino is a hidden gem in Burke, VA… and I’m already planning my next visit. I’m a foodie and I highly recommend anyone seeking true Italian flavor in a fine dining setting.

Visited after being intrigued by its high praise for Italian cuisine. The dishes were good, offering a taste of Italy. The main issue we encountered was the slow service; it took 39 minutes for our appetizers to arrive. Additionally, the service throughout our meal felt inattentive, unlike other reviewers. While the food provided the desired Italian flavors, the overall dining experience was somewhat dampened by these service shortcomings.

You might not even notice this Hidden Gem in Burke. Rafagino is a great higher end Italian restaurant in a corner of a strip mall. Once your enter, the wonderful, cozy atmosphere and excellent service helps to round out a menu full of Italian classics and specials. A great wine, spirits, and beer selection helps to round out your meal.

This small Italian restaurant is tucked into the corner of a shopping center, so plenty of parking. They greet you warmly at the door and are very attentive. The ambience is cozy. My meal looked delicious but had no flavor. My husband‘s meal was good enough but nothing to rave about and although he asked for red sauce he got white. Meals are in the mid to high price range, no lunchtime options. The desserts were delicious, the chocolate fudge cake is to die for! I would suggest that you come here for a dessert date.

Best restaurant in Burke and I’d even say the DMV! They always have excellent customer service, food, and a fun atmosphere! Regardless of the occasion, you can’t go wrong by coming here. You won’t be dissatisfied!

Only reason this place is getting a big rating is because of the service. They waiters were all extremely professional and courteous, it truly felt like I was in a random restaurant in Italy. However, the food was not. I forgot the dishes names but they were all bland. The calamari was not a hit, and the tomato sauce dish didn’t have much pasta. The mushroom steak dish was definitely the better of the three.

Fantastic wine dinner tonight! Service, food and wine were exceptional! My favorites were the rolled rib eye steak with prosciutto and mozzarella topped with mushrooms, and the burratta salad with arugula and tomatoes. The stuffed calamari with Black olives and capers was an amazing unexpected pleasure. The pasta was a homemade trofie pasta with pulled pork ribs in a red wine-based tomato sauce that was superb. Dessert was a strawberry tiramisu! Need I say more! Excellent wine pairing as well! Excellent evening!

I need to confess. I have refrained from rating this restaurant for merely selfish reasons, as it is close to home and so delicious, that i fear it will be found by others and keep us from dining one night when we cant get a table!
The food is delicate and the meats and fish are cooked to perfection. The chef’s house made appetizers and salads never dissapoint.

A hidden gem in Burke! Authentic Italian food, excellent service and a good atmosphere. This is the perfect spot for family gatherings and celebrations. They also have delicious cannolis, which is hard to find in this area!
