First visit on Sunday evening to mark 35th anniversary along with friend. Started with drinks at bar. Key lime martinis & sangria were great, but expresso martini poor as no expresso and too sweet. Otherwise, bartender service was great. Seated in dining room, server delivered sour dough rolls and drinks promptly. Included salad was served on chilled pewter plates, which was nice touch. Entrees included surf&turf, jerk chicken, and Mahi Mahi. Needed to send fish back as over done, even replacement not much better. Server was very slow with later drinks, and forgot request for more sauce for chicken. We eventually dealt with manager to discuss service issues.
Overall, mostly fun evening but not worth repeat visit.

A very cozy place to have a fabulous conversation in a small group. The server (and I cant remember to spell her name) was deslightful and attentive and the manager stopped to greet when we are leaving. My friend had scallops which I tasted and they were excellent and I should have stayed with the Sea food. I made the mistake of having an overpriced steak which at best was awful. My friend Sid had a piece and was disappointed that he recommended this place. We will go back again and this time avoid the red meat. Coffee was watered down (and stale) but the key lime pie was excellent,

Wow! This place is delicious! We ordered the Coconut Shrimp and the Blackened Mahi Mahi and it was great! The carrot cake was phenomenal I don’t think I’ve ever had better cake. The service was great and the servers were very friendly. The meals were about $22 a person. Never had Caribbean food before, but it was A+

After we finally found the place, it was very pleasant. We had a very nice conversation with Shadrick Clay and enjoyed the hospitality and history that he shared with us. The food was good but lacked a bit of true Caribbean spicy spices But we understood that some people can’t handle the heat.

While Rae’s is very popular with the locals (especially in this neighborhood due to it’s hidden away nature and “best kept secret” reputation), I feel like the quality of the food is frankly not that great. We came right when they opened, and while our servers were attentive, the quality of what I got was not good. We ordered the jerk chicken wings as an appetizer, and they were fried ok but they did not taste like jerk at all. There was no spice to them. My wife ordered some kind of sweet glazed fish, which she seemed to enjoy, but I found very overly sweet. It was also apparently cooked in bourbon which was perceptible in the taste. Unfortunately my meal was the worst, it was some kind of “stew” (which is supposed to be an approximation of a low country boil), but it was largely flavorless and bland. The only flavorful part was the sausage, everything else tasted like it had been boiled in water without salt. The salads were decent and the rolls were warmed before being served, but overall the meal was super underwhelming and I would have a hard time being convinced to come back.

We received excellent service at the bar and decent service when we had dinner at the restaurant. I personally felt like the coconut shrimp were overcooked and it looked like maybe the oil they fried them in hadn’t been changed in a long time. The rice and beans are super bland but it has always been that way here. What I didn’t like at all was the fact that they add horseradish (or maybe even brown mustard) to the mango chutney. Horseradish has such an awful taste I don’t see the need to add it to anything ever.

This is a beautiful restaurant, the location is quiet and nice as well. I enjoyed their jerk chicken and the server was excellent. Will definitely go back. The house salad was great as well.

Quality and portion sizes were good but the entrees we had were bland. We expected the jerk half of chicken and jerk pork tenderloins to have some “bite”, but the kitchen didn’t seem to put much heart into their cooking. Tastiest offering we ordered was the black bean dip.
On the positive, the waitress was very attentive, with frequent but non-intrusive visits to our table to top off our drinks and generally check on us.
Atmosphere was somewhere between a sports bar and casual restaurant. It was an hour drive for us which we will likely not make again.

Decent lil spot for drinks. Food is a little over priced. The crab meat sandwich with fries came to be about $21.00 and the shrimp plate pictured was $13.00 I added a slice of key lime pie and my total came to $43.94. Notice the very small portion of fries that came with each meal and I only got 6 shrimp. I will visit again but just for the bar which I have yet to try
