Stopped in at Rachel’s driving through Elsberry. Very nice local dinner. The pork tenderloin sandwich, they list as their specialty, did not disappoint. Very large tenderloin perfectly breaded and fried. You must give it a try when driving near Elsberry.

No frills, good quality home town restaurant, which means:
1. Service was instantaneous. You walk in, sit down where you choose, and the server immediately takes and delivers your drinks.
2. Food is made from quality local ingredients and prepared well. They have a pork tenderloin on the menu, which I asked to be prepared “cajun style,” and I got exactly what I expected. My wife ordered the cod sandwich, which she said was “very good.”
3. No white linen tablecloths, but the simple tables, floor, etc. were clean.

Our family visited Rachel’s for the 1st time today. The food was overall pretty good. Portions were small but the price was also cheap so that reflected accordingly. The service was horrible! Our waitress was so rude. She huffed & puffed at our 8 year old son that changed his mind on his order. She ripped the page off stating “I have to start all over” which was very dramatic. She loudly degraded call in orders with the cook stating “I hate when people call and don’t know what they want”. She forgot to put an order of fries on the ticket and argued with me when i asked if we could get them. I even told her it wasn’t a big deal but she exclaimed “I know you said no”. I have been a waitress myself and was honestly shocked at how she behaved.

Food was very good, came out in nice time and best of all it was only $16 for country fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, potato salad and dinner salad. Oh and two teas. Can’t beat that! Waitress was very friendly and efficient.

Ordered their stake rare and it took almost 40 minutes, after it came out it was cold and dry and the steak and sides were very small and over priced to begin with and I was not givin sour cream or butter for my baked potato and was never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink or if my food was alright and it was not busy at all. A server who was not my original server finally asked me if I needed anything after finishing everything except the plane baked potato and i asked if the baked potato comes with butter and sour cream and she said that i need to request it, “I guess most folks like a plane bake potato”, she said she would bring some out and I politely said its fine it’s already cold and she shrugged like I was being ridiculous but none the less I still paid for the over priced food and tipped very well and I will not be back and highly recommend if anyone considers eating here to just walk a few feet to the dos primos. The imagrints that everyone in this town complains about will treat you better and give you way better food for way cheaper.
