The appetizer section had a nice spread of salads and it was presented well. The gulabi dahi vada was unfortunately too sweet, and the inside was stiff and dry. The samosa chaat was nicely presented, and the samosa itself tasted good. They also had dhokla bites as an appetizer, but they did not have the texture of dhokla at all. Instead of being soft and fluffy, they were more grainy and doughy, and the taste was a bit strange.
The paneer appetizer dish looked very bright, clearly colored with artificial coloring, and unfortunately it lacked flavor. The cut mirchi stuffing was good, but the peppers themselves were dry and cold. The gobi 65 was quite good.
Among the curries, the kesariya egg curry was not good at all. The aloo tamata curry tasted like simple home cooked food. The palak paneer was good, and there was another creamy shahi paneer style curry which was okay.
The naan seemed like it had been made when the buffet first started because it was cold when we tried it and not enjoyable. The restaurant started filling up around 12:30 to 1:00 PM. I waited for the next batch of naan and the fresh naan was much better.
One issue with the restaurant layout is that the buffet setup is in the middle and feels very cramped. Once it got crowded, it was quite difficult to move around and access the dishes.
On the positive side, they had a live counter for malpua with rabri and it was really good. The malpua was crispy and not overly sweet, which we liked. They also had gajar halwa and that dessert was very good as well.
Overall, there was a large vegetarian spread for the buffet and the concept and presentation for Holi were nice. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately the taste of many dishes did not match the presentation.
I drove about an hour from the north to get there, and personally it was not worth the drive. I would not recommend the buffet based on this experience.
The real stars of our meal were the pani puri trio and the rasmalai delight. The pani puri trio was incredibly refreshing with three distinct and well-balanced flavors – tamarind, guava, and mint. Each one brought something unique to the table. The rasmalai delight was equally impressive – a soft, delicate cake topped with rasmalai that was absolutely delicious.
Overall, a great spot for Indian cuisine in Issaquah with some truly memorable dishes. Would definitely return to try more items on the menu!
Very authentic, not-your-usual India dishes like champaran mutton that we enjoyed a lot. Loved the plating and presentation of food.
Prices are worth it. Will recommend visiting!
Drinks
• Mojito – 3/5: Nicely garnished with mint, but it lacked the refreshing punch a mojito usually has and leaned a bit too sweet.
• Penicillin – 4.5/5: My friend ordered this, and I tried a sip as well. Really well balanced and enjoyable.
Starters
• Complimentary Veg Clear Soup – 4.5/5: Light, flavorful, and a pleasant surprise.
• Dahi Puri – 5/5: Absolutely perfect. I loved it! My friend wasn’t sure at first, but it turned out to be a great choice — delicious and well-prepared.
Mains & Breads
• Serrano Lachha Paratha – 4.5/5: Very good, similar to a well-made Malabar paratha.
• Garlic Naan – 2.5/5: A bit too thick and could be improved.
• Champaran Mutton – 3.5/5: Flavor was good, but the mutton didn’t feel very fresh.
• Myth Malai Makhmali – 4/5: Chicken had good flavor, though it wasn’t as tender as expected.
Ambience
The place was clean, with spotless restrooms and a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would be happy to visit again.
The service was very nice and quick. The host was very friendly and gave a very nice family atmosphere.
Highly recommend!
For appetizers, we ordered the Dahi ke Kebab and Jackfruit Bao. Both were delicious! The kebabs were flavorful and well-prepared. The bao had a tasty filling, though the sauce was only on the outside, which made it a bit tricky to hold — but the taste definitely made up for it. We especially liked their homestyle chutneys, which added a nice touch to the starters.
For the main course, we went with the Dahi ke Paneer Lababdar paired with Serrano Lachcha Paratha. Both dishes were flavorful, and the portion sizes were quite decent.
To drink, we tried the Kokum Mocktail, which was refreshing and reminded me of a spiced masala soda — a perfect complement to the meal.
Overall, Raajgharana delivered a solid dining experience with tasty food and good portions. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for flavorful Indian cuisine in the area!
The restaurant itself is clean and peaceful, and the staff are always friendly and courteous.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy fresh, authentic Indian cuisine.
One concern is with their gratuity policy. Nothing on the menu indicated that an automatic gratuity would be applied, yet it was added to our bill without clear disclosure. Normally, at restaurants with automatic service charges, we expect to see that information either printed on the menu or clearly mentioned when presenting the check.
Instead, we were asked to pay directly on a handheld device (no check was provided), where gratuity was already included but not flagged. If one of us hadn’t asked, we wouldn’t have known that the tip had already been added. This lack of transparency was disappointing — especially since Washington State requires clear disclosure of service charges.
Overall: Good food, but overpriced and lacking in transparency around billing. Clear communication about gratuity on the menu would go a long way in improving the dining experience.
