Off the bat, the staff seemed inattentive and barely acknowledged us when we walked in, but honestly, the bigger issue was the food. My wife ordered the beef hibachi, and several pieces were only partially cooked, with some still noticeably raw.
I ordered the chicken hibachi (my second time trying it here) and I noticed that the flavor was completely different from the Fair Oaks location. It tasted like they had used a completely different seasoning altogether, and it didn’t complement the chicken well. On top of that, the chicken had several chewy, rubbery pieces.
Apart from that, the setup itself is similar to the Fair Oaks location, with just a few booths and a single bathroom in the back. So the layout has remained the same.
On a positive side, I can attest that the quality at the Culpeper location 20 minutes down the road is much closer to the Fair Oaks taste. It’s just a shame it’s not the same at this location.
Most food was good but not great and the spring rolls were not on my favorite list having an odd flavor I couldn’t place. Dumplings were very good and beef and chicken as well. Fried rice lacked character and flavor and will try switching to noodles next time to see if they are better.
Also hard to know or get condiments as most seemed to have to be garnered from the man running the serving station and not acquired independently.
Decent experience, would go back. Recommend the boxes but thumbs down on the spring rolls and fried rice.
LOCATION: The location is fine and convenient, though parking is not great.
Ordered steak & Fried rice. Once at home, I found that the taste is just very weak. There was steak and it was tender…though it should be as the pieces of meat are VERY THIN compared to other Japanese establishments. There was so much cooked lettuce, as a filler, that it seems at first you are getting a lot of food when in reality you are getting lettuce and rice with very thin steak slices.
TASTE: Very bland. The sauces are a must here to add any form of flavor. My family ate about half of the food and we were all done and that is not due to being satisfied but rather we were just not pleased at all.
The reviews from the website are either skewed or somehow embellished. My family are not picky eaters and I usually do not post negative reviews, but Quickway just left us 40.00 unsatisfied.
Orders are served incorrectly. When ordering more than one item, it seems that the staff are unable to plan and work together well.
The tuna and avocado came with no avo and the tuna is minced which is not fresh or as described. I am too nervous to eat it.
None of the food is Japanese at all, but the teriyaki sauce tastes okay.
