Portions were generous, presentation was beautiful, and everything came out fresh and hot. You can tell this place takes pride in their food and their culture. On top of that, the atmosphere was lively, clean, and full of good energy.
This is hands-down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. Highly recommend!
The molcajete was phenomenal and I will 100% get it again when I visit Hot Springs again.
The inside and outside were visually pleasing. I particularly enjoyed the herb and pepper gardens out front!
In addition to the food, Pedro, our server, generously brought out a plate of fresh, grilled nopalitos (cactus) because I asked if we could try some.so in order to make a choice on the menu. Every employee in this family run, authentic Mexican restaurant seemed to take great pride in their business. They were smiling, friendly, patient with our questions and particularly attentive and accurate with our orders, and we observed they showed the same level of care for the other guests.
Quetzal had an extensive food and beverage menu and everything we tried was flavorful, and was served on lovely white ceramic plates with beautiful presentation.
We will be back! I whole heartedly recommend Quetzal!
Three of us got three different dishes and we shared and I have to say every dish is very tasty. The food is not greasy.
When seated we were quickly offered drinks and given menus. WE started to order the specialty of guacamole however, that’s a common dish we get at most Mexican restaurants we visit so we decided to try the roasted corn dip. I loved the flavor of the roasted corn and thought the dip was really good. I am glad we decided to try it but I’m not sure if this would be something I would order every time I went. I would have it again but it wouldn’t be my first choice (I am not a huge fan of corn so take that into consideration).
Secondly, the entree’s. I ordered the vegetarian burrito which was busting with flavor and huge. I love the inclusion of cactus (not many Mexican restaurants do this) and the flavor that added. Accompanied with rice and beans this dish was large enough for my dinner and the next days lunch. My son ordered a steak burrito and it was equally as large. We pretty much needed to be rolled out as stuffed as we were when we left. Unfortunately, there was no hope of room for dessert.
It’s clear the staff takes pride in creating a welcoming environment, which I truly appreciated.
However, the food didn’t quite live up to expectations. While it wasn’t bad, it was just average. The flavors felt a bit muted, and the dishes lacked the vibrant, authentic taste I was hoping for from a Mexican restaurant. It felt more like a “safe” take on the cuisine rather than something memorable.
If you’re looking for a spot with great service and a decent meal, this might fit the bill. But for those seeking standout Mexican flavors, you might be left wanting more.
The Margarita and Mojito’s are excellent.
