I just called up here to leave a review and here i am writing one. That alone should let you know where i’m about to go with this

First off, I ordered thru Uber Eats and when I arrived my food was hot, fresh, and ready. Next i walked around and saw they had a mini store with great jamaican foods/drinks, a great selection of ice cream, and most of all 4+ flavors of DG Ginger Beer.

I picked up Pineapple Ginger and The OG Ginger Beer….Then I saw they had Cream Soda…. An executive decision had to be made so I asked Kay (very helpful and kind) and she recc i pick Pineapple and Cream soda. [Side note: I picked up 2 rooms temp sodas and she took them and said “let me get you some cold ones”…Customer service 10/10 ]

I took her expert advice and not only did they pair well with my jerk chicken, rice and gravy, plantains, cabbage, and beef patty but they made me feel like i was in Jamaica (i haven’t been, yet).

Fast forward a few hours later, the portion size is enough to feed 2 people so i’m sitting here eating it cold (since my hotel gave me a mini fridge but no microwave ) and the food is still great, lowkey even better lol

I ordered rum cake but they were out so she subbed it for Chocolate cake. I’m not one to turn down cake in general so i tried it and it was moist and rich like grandmas cake on easter Sunday. Did i mention it was homemade?!

I stopped mid bite and had to call up there to ask for Kay just to show her and the team some love!

If you’re in richmond, and you want a taste of authentic jamaican food, i recc you visit Queens Jamaican Restaurant immediately!!

Ask for Kay, she’ll take care of you!

PS: I would have taken pics but I couldn’t wait to eat and I’m going back again before I leave richmond

This was my first experience at Queen’s. As the other reviews mention, don’t bother calling about anything because they don’t answer the phone. If they answered the phone, I would have known before I drove 20 minutes that they were out of plantain, and mac and cheese, and rum cake. But, hey, not the end of the world. The flavor of my rice and beans was very good, and the cabbage was on point. The flavor of the brown stew chicken was very good too. However, I have eaten Jamaican food all over the US and in Jamaica, and I have never ever gotten brown stew chicken that was just dry pieces of chicken on rice with NO GRAVY. I mean, there was not a drop of gravy on that chicken and rice! I was stunned! Good thing it was flavorful. The beef patties were mediocre. And the biggest fail was that after they didn’t have rum cake, I settled on chocolate…then the girl forgot it!!! I live 20 minutes away, and had stopped at the store before I got home and discovered it was missing. I would have called to tell them and ask them to credit me, but- that’s right, they don’t answer the phone.

I am not a fan sadly and will be returning to my usual Jamaican spot. All of the food is just so dry..the beef patty, rice, chicken, cabbage. It’s just not giving what it needed too. I truly have never had such a dry and tasteless beef patty until going here. Portions are not that great in size. I ordered the large in the photo. However, the rice and beans are really good and flavorful. That’s the only thing with flavor.

The food was excellent, I’m very picky about where I eat at. I’m bajan and a friend said the food here was really good. So since I was in Richmond for some shopping with my daughterand granddaughter, we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. My granddaughter got a side of mac and cheese and I tasted it. It was so good and so was my curry goat dinner. My daughter loved her food and my granddaughter. I will be stopping here again when I’m in Richmond. Spicy and delicious and plenty of food

We got robbed. Ordered a large oxtail thinking it was going to be a lot of food. Barley any meat! $18 for a large and there was very little meat. I basically paid for rice and cabbage. I noticed everyone was ordering kids meals. I thought I was doing something by ordering a large and contributing to a small business. I spent $51 altogether. I was robbed. Only reason I gave two stars is because the oxtails are seasoned well, or else I would have given 1 star. I’m happy to support local business but if I’m a spend big money I want what I paid for. You have to wait a long time for the food, however If I had received a large portion of food I’m happy to wait for quality I would have given 5 stars.

I’ve never had jerk chicken that was dry and hard and doesn’t have the taste of jerk. Hadn’t been there since 2019 and I see I haven’t missed anything . Worst experience in food ever

Okay I’ll preface by saying the food was very very very tasty. For the small meal goat curry and a Snapple was it was 17.92 Which is insanely expensive. I had also had a small curly hair which isn’t a big deal because these things happen

I would recommend it maybe once but I don’t plan on coming back.

Okay so the food is good, but the customer service and wait times suck.. the person taking your order is really rude. I would say hello how are you and she would say what’s your order? The wait times are super long I think if you can order online this would make life easier, but sadly they do no answer their phone or take orders. I would recommend Carenas better customer service and quicker time to get phone. This small business has work to do.

The curry chicken was heaven and so was the cabbage. The oxtails could’ve been cooked a little bit longer because they were a little tough and the beans and rice was a little sweet.
