According to my Cajun husband, the lentil turmeric soup with spicy shrimp was “slap yo’ momma good”. He does not give out compliments like this often. He said it reminded him of his grandmother’s lentil and andouille sausage soup. I enjoyed the fact that everything on the menu except the injera was gluten free. I ordered the vegan platter. I enjoyed it with rice. It was so filling I did take leftovers with me. The traditional tea was soul warming. Winter spices and a cardamom pod. Heaven. I had two servings. Then I ordered coffee for the end of my meal experience. #glutenfree #vegan

Queen of Sheba is one of our favorite restaurants in town! The owners are a sweet couple and work hard to bring the yummiest plate to your table. Their menu is full of variety and won’t disappoint. I have mostly ordered from their vegetarian menu while my fiancée has enjoyed their beef tibs. Their meal comes with injera bread, which is a delicious sourdough-like pancake, and lentils. The lentils are my absolute favorite! If you’re looking for an authentic and local experience, look no further than Queen of Sheba!

Very, very pleased with the food. The flavor of the awaze tibs was incredible and something as basic as the collard greens were some of the best I’ve had. It had its own distinct flavor in comparison to other Ethiopian restaurants that I have eaten at.

Great Ethiopian restaurant! Ever since I first tried Ethiopian cuisine back in 2015 I’ve been hooked; it’s my literal favorite food. Queen Sheba is one of the best Ethiopian restaurants I’ve been to, and I’ve visited many in the lower-48. The injera is wonderfully tangy. Best of all for me though is the vegan options! Most of the time the veggie platter is vegan, but I always have to double check so I’m incredibly grateful Queen Sheba went to the effort of putting it on their menu. Thank you for a great meal!

The owner is a hardworking man and an absolutely amazing chef. I ordered the lamb dish and it was perfectly executed. The lamb is juicy and tender, very very fresh too. They only have two people working there, the chef and his wife, so the wait time might be a bit longer. But the food is totally worth the wait and the chef came to give us updates. It is hard to find places that cook each plate individually. I was very skeptical about getting Ethiopian food in Alaska, but I’m so happy that I came to this restaurant. Great opportunity to support small business and minority businesses.

We ordered vegan platter and lamb tbs and chicken. This fed our family of 5. All was so good and we ate every bit. The staff were nice and attentive. The tea is very good. You may need to get extra injera bread since you only get the one it’s served on. We got 2 extra. My family has eaten at many Ethiopian restaurants and this is right up there.

This place is a hidden gem in Anchorage. The food was amazing. The restaurant is simple and elegant at the same time. The Yebeg Alicha, a lamb dish was superb with spices an explosion of intense flavor. Ethiopian coffee is a perfect compliment. The owner and chef came to our table and explained his preparation process with natural herbs and spices prepared in house. It was a great honor to speak with him. If you come to Anchorage please fit this place in as one of your stops. The quality and friendliness rivals any 5 star place here.

So excited to try Ethiopian food, especially here in Alaska! The smell when you first walk in is just incredible. I got the alicha tibsi. While I’m not a fan of lentils, these lentils it came with were delicious. The beef was just a little bit spicy, loved the big chunks of garlic in it. The injera was a little too sour to me and felt overwhelming of the rest. I think next time I’ll order it with rice. The textures of all the food were very pleasant. Wish we had a little more guidance in eating (no utensils). Overall a very nice experience.
