Clean, comfortable, delicious, what more could you ask for? This is excellent food in Julian, my only regret is not making it in sooner!
The special today is carne asada fries, they are piled high with toppings, the fries are perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Their red salsa is nicely spicy and the green is so flavorful, perfect choices!
The margarita is excellent too! We will definitely be back sooner than later!

Quecho in Julian: A Hidden Gem That Hits Every Note
If you’re rolling through Julian and you don’t stop at Quecho, you’re missing out plain and simple.
First off: the carne asada fries. They’re not just good. They’re ridiculously good. Crispy, flavorful, loaded just right not drowning in toppings, not skimping either. You’ll remember them long after you leave.
Pair that with one of their house margaritas perfectly balanced, not that sugar-laden stuff most places pass off and suddenly you’re in no rush to leave.
The staff? Friendly without being fake. The vibe inside? Comfortable, like a place that actually wants you to relax and enjoy yourself. No tourist trap feel just a solid, dialed-in local favorite.
If you’re looking for one spot in Julian where the food delivers, the drinks are great, and the service makes you feel like you belong. QUECHO DELIVERS.
Highly recommend. And if you try those fries, you’ll thank me later.

I stumbled on this restaurant in Julian by accident since it’s a bit off the main street, but I’m glad I did. It’s a really nice, cozy spot with both indoor and outdoor seating—the outdoor area is huge and set up in a traditional Mexican style, which gives it a great atmosphere. I tried a new dish I hadn’t had before and ended up loving it; everything was made really well. It wasn’t busy when I visited, but the wait for the food was still pretty long. Even so, it was worth it once the meal arrived. Overall, a great hidden find in Julian.

This little Mexican restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is bursting with authentic flavors and you can really taste the difference — everything is made from scratch with so much care. From the freshly prepared salsas to the perfectly seasoned dishes, every bite feels like home-cooked comfort.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff treat you like family. It’s not just a place to grab a quick meal — it’s the kind of spot you want to come back to again and again. If you’re looking for real Mexican food made with love (not the watered-down version you find in so many places), this is where you need to go. Highly recommend!

Unplanned road trip to Julian and we found this gem. I eat wholefood/vegan so it’s usually difficult to find places to eat. Quecho did not disappoint! Hubby had the fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak. I had the Burrito Bowl minus the cheese and sour cream. We both had the Agua Frescas of the day, which was watermelon lime. All of it was delicious. Service was top notch! Definitely recommend!

The food was delicious and so was my margarita. Our server was very polite and attentive, especially considering the restaurant inside was very busy. She made sure to get to us as soon as she could and I don’t think the wait was terrible. Remember to be kind and patient towards staff, especially at locations with a smaller capacity. My family really enjoy eating our meal outside where our toddler could roam a little bit. There were even toys outside. Overall, we enjoyed our entire experience and look forward to coming back when visiting Julian again.

1. Fish was chewy and stale, buried under a pile of something akin to cole slaw.
2. Beans were flavorless (black) or salty (pinto). Fresh out of the can.
3. Restroom not stocked.
4. Service was lacking.
5. Dirty floor.
“Elevated” as in what? Certainly not quality. Perhaps the location’s altitude.
Not worth it.

Wonderfully, cheerful service from the owner herself. She was able to give great suggestions from the menu. Nicely decorated indoors and they have outdoor seating as well. The food was very flavorful! The chips were overdone but the quacomole was excellent. The salads were so colorful and delicious. We all loved our food and had a nice lunch.

Great mexican restaurant located in Julian. Can be seated outside or inside. Started with a small guacamole and shared a molcajete. Molcajete was huge and filled with lots of steak, chicken, chorizo, and nopales. This also came with tortillas, rice, and beans. Ended up taking leftovers home for another meal. Staff was friendly and checked on us often. Menu had a lot of other great entrees and would stop here again the next time we visited Julian.

We wanted to eat at classic American diner places at Julian and get pie later. Since there was over 1 hour wait time, we decided to come to Quecho and discovered that everything we ate was amazing!!! Both vegetarian and chicken dishes were tasty and filling. Portion sizes were also generous. I would totally recommend eating at Quecho 🙂
