I am peruvian and the only Venezuelan dish i tasted was an arepa. My Venezuelan friend took me to eat there and I really did like it. It kinda reminded me of puerto rican food. I do gotta say when I go by myself I get a different type of service but overall the food is delicious

You ever bite into something and instantly question every decision that led you to that moment? That was me, face to face with the saddest excuse for an arepa I’ve ever encountered.

First off, the arepa itself, it was hard. Not crispy, not toasted. Hard. Like a corn-based hockey puck someone left under a heat lamp for three hours. I damn near cracked a molar trying to break through it. I don’t know if they used masarepa or cement mix, but it wasn’t edible either way.

And then came the filling. I asked for shredded beef with cheese. What I got was two strings of meat that tasted like dried gym sock, a slice of cheese that didn’t melt, and enough oil to lube a small engine. Bonus points for the lukewarm temperature, as if the kitchen just gave up halfway through and said “eh, close enough.”

The worst part? It had no seasoning. None. Zero. Like the salt and flavor called in sick that day. I was chewing through blandness while wondering if this was actually a prank.

The only thing authentic about this arepa was the disappointment.

I came in expecting a warm, stuffed corn pocket of joy. I left with dry mouth, a greasy napkin, and a renewed sense of distrust in humanity. They owe that country an apology.

Me comí una parrilla y mi esposa una hamburguesa. Y probamos los tequeyoyos. 100% recomendados. Autentico sabor venezolano.
