We went here bc the other viet cajun crawfish places in the area had lines of the door. This one didn’t and now we know why… We weren’t greeted, sat ourselves, only 2 other tables occupied. The owner isn’t very friendly and took forever to take our order. He walked away in the middle of taking our order because another table dined and dashed. We waited for him to come back and after 10 min my husband had to go up to him and remind him we weren’t done ordering. The combo of crawfish, mussels and shrimp was a good portion but the flavor was way more viet than cajun. We love Asian food but the flavor was off. The mild was very very spicy and the seafood didn’t taste very fresh. Crab legs were unseasoned but very salty and the garlic butter came in a separate bowl… that was odd. They didn’t have any lemon either. Garlic noodles were the best part of our meal. Must have the high star rating for their vietnamese food but this is not the place for crawfish…

I really enjoyed the tik tok soup. Got it just like it comes although there is an option to order with rice noodles and fried shrimp balls as well. Shrimp balls tasted so fresh and clean. Soup was seasoned perfectly and I enjoyed the variety of flavors and textures. I would eat this once a week if I lived nearby. The herbs were really fresh and lovely. The fried egg rolls were good too. Service was very friendly but we were there for a late lunch and no one else was there. Wife had hieu tieu which she was so so on but I think you need to order the tik tok soup if you go. Her shrimp cracker was really good though. Restaurant seemed clean and bathrooms were fine too.

No questions asked — this is hands down the best soup I’ve had to date. I was looking for an early-morning soup spot after coming back from Vietnam, because soup for breakfast is officially my new passion. This place happened to be open early, so I stopped in… and the name “Tik Tok Soup” immediately had me intrigued.
The soup did not disappoint. It’s rich, flavorful, and fully loaded with everything. I was so happy with it that I’ve had it three days in a row. The service is quick, the staff is incredibly kind, and even though I haven’t tried the rest of the menu yet, it looks impressively extensive.
Also, the place smells so good I legit wanted to take a bite out of the restaurant.

Tucked away in Alief, where Houston’s Chinatown has grown into one of the city’s richest food destinations, you can find some of the most comforting and authentic dishes outside of Vietnam. Alief has long been known as a hub of cultural diversity, where restaurants aren’t just businesses—they’re extensions of family kitchens and traditions carried across oceans. From Cantonese barbecue shops to Vietnamese noodle houses, this neighborhood has shaped Houston’s reputation as a food city.
Quan Ba Ky is one of those gems. I came specifically to try their Bún Suông, a specialty noodle soup you don’t see everywhere. The broth is light yet deeply flavorful, with just the right balance of savory and sweet. The star, of course, is the shrimp paste “suông,” shaped into tender little patties that hold a delicate bite. Paired with rice vermicelli, herbs, and crisp vegetables, the soup feels both refreshing and comforting—perfect for Houston’s unpredictable weather.
What makes this bowl stand out isn’t just the taste, but also how it connects to the wider story of food in Alief. Dishes like Bún Suông remind me that Chinatown isn’t only about dim sum or pho—it’s a crossroads of flavors, histories, and immigrant experiences that have come together to create something uniquely Houston. I’m proud to live in the heart of it, surrounded by so much culture and incredible food.
If you’re looking for something beyond the usual bowls of pho, Bún Suông at Quan Ba Ky is absolutely worth the visit.

Came in at 10pm and were able to sit and get dinner after flying into Houston. We ordered the tik tok pho which was amazing. The broth was so flavorful and delicious. We also got the spring rolls which were great and the garlic noodles which weren’t very flavorful.
Everything was so reasonably priced and generous in the portion sizing. We had a great dinner and would definitely come back

Went to lunch and sampled these dishes. They were all flavorful and delicious. I gave a 5 star for food because they deserve more than a 4 star but I thought the eggrolls were not up to par. All the other dishes made up for it though. The shaking beef was tender and very flavorful. The crawfish is a must try and the bun suong is their most popular soup dish. The taro cake was one of the best I’ve tasted, hot and crunchy and perfectly cooked. The fried shrimps and fries were ok. Comparable to similar fried dishes. The server was nice, funny, and very patient while taking our orders. Our food came out very quickly. Very enjoyable lunch.

Amazing meal! The B1 “TikTok Soup” is one of the best soup dishes I’ve had in the city. It is super flavorful with tons meats. We also ordered the taro cake which was wonderful. The service is excellent as well and the wait staff was constantly attentive to us. I will definitely be coming back.

We had 6 pounds of crawfish with their special sauce, and it was delicious! The sauce had just the right mix of sweetness and spice. SO flavorful! The drinks were also really good and paired perfectly with the meal. Can’t wait to go back!

Came here for late night chickens hot pot and the owner recommended the goat hot pot instead and i realized why when the food came out. The photo showed everything that came with it. A plate of noodles and a plate of cabbage, no other vegetables or tofu.
As you can see the hot pot has little meat, and it’s all lean meat, no skins no belly. He sold us the left-over with full price. And the lemongrass lime is definitely powder, it started to separate. Owner has Zero pride in cooking food, all about making money.
I will never come again.
