Reviews
The venue is cozy and intimate. Lighting lends itself to a cozy atmosphere as well. Would definitely stop back in.
While the tea, sandwiches, and pastries we were served were delightful, we were disappointed to find that the theme for December was still Paris rather than a festive holiday or Christmas theme. This is on us since we didn’t check this in advance, however it felt like a missed opportunity to embrace the season in a festive holiday atmosphere.
The service also left much to be desired. Despite being one of the first parties to arrive, we were served last, which felt unusual and frustrating given the two-hour time limit they’ve placed on their tea. When it was time to settle our check, a discrepancy delayed the process, and while our waiter was resolving it, another staff member came over and offered us a place to wait in another room. This made us feel rushed, though the delay was not on our part.
Adding to the disappointment, scones and jam—a staple of high tea—were notably absent. For the price, this omission is surprising. Our waiter also disappeared for long stretches, so we were never offered additional hot tea or the option to purchase champagne (our favorite friends’ holiday high tea tradition) before our time ended.
That said, the location itself is charming as ever and the hotel is beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Perhaps it was simply an off day for the kitchen and our server. While I wouldn’t recommend the experience based on this visit, I hope the Ritz (Quadrant) will address these issues, as it has the potential to be as magical as it has been in the past.
The 18 MONTH AGED PARMESAN & TRUFFLE CREAM BUCATINI was great. I recommend it and although you can add Chicken, Shrimp or Salmon. But, as it is was plenty and hit the spot.
The chicken sandwich was also great. Better than I anticipated actually.
I hear the cauliflower soup was great as well.
The cocktails were definitely a highlight—creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. I tried the signature lavender gin cocktail, and it was refreshing and unique. The small plates we ordered (especially the truffle fries and crab cakes) were flavorful and well-portioned for sharing.
