I just watched the owner Josh on “Beat Bobby Flay”….. Coral Gables vs Sunrise …. Lauderhill here. Neither dishes looked appealing during the first round of judging and the judges thought that yours tasted better in round one. Jerk chicken with Bobby Flay? You gave Bobby Flay an easy one. But you did represent South Florida of one of its common dishes. I can say that I learnt from you “black garlic” that I did not know existed. Hmm
You beat Bobby Flay!!! CONGRATULATIONS and I thought the extra bonus was that you got to hang out with Leslie Jones. Good job Mr Josh you have me smiling.

Rooting for Chef Josh Elliot and his wife Ellie is so easy to do.

Their first venture together, showcases their depth of experience (Miami and Boston), their respect for ingredients and their love for a great time. My son and I stopped by for Happy Hour last night and it only made me want to go back SOON for more of the menu.

The dishes are celebrations of great ingredients like Jamón Ibérico, Idiazabal cheese, Txistorras – with their own signature fun twists like the Yucca Bravas.

Order the Pan con Tomate, top it with a slice of Jamón Ibérico and then ask yourself if there’s a better combination in this entire world.

My wife and I learned about QT Tapas online and wanted to give it a try. We went on a recent Saturday around 7:30pm and had no issues with parking or seating. The restaurant is located inside of a small deli/market with around 10 tables. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable with great service. It felt like a family restaurant because in many ways, it is.

The food here is fantastic and some of the best we’ve had in Miami. As the restaurant description says, it’s tapas with a Japanese touch. I think we ordered half the menu and every single dish was very well executed. The food had tons of flavor and you can tell that it was made by someone who has a passion for it.

Some of the highlights of the meal included the Bluefin Tuna Crudo, Matrimonio, Yucca Bravas, Chinese Broccoli, Gambas, Yellow Endive & Shingo Pear Smoked Cheese Dip, and the Basque Cheesecake. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at QP Tapas.

I would highly recommend this restaurant and we’ll certainly be back for many more meals.

The food and energy here is amazing and this is my new favorite gem in Miami. I had just gotten back from Spain and was missing the daily tapas I’d have – QP did not disappoint.

There were some classic dishes and some with a twist. For example, the uni risotto – something so special and I would love to come back for. The yucas bravas was also amazing, though I’d recommended to Chef Josh that there should also be an option to add a fried egg on top 🙂 Everything we ordered was truly wonderful so I don’t think you can go wrong with anything. I’m excited to see the ever evolving menu and perhaps an expansion of the drink menu to include some vermouths in the future.

For those coming from the Northeast, the Chef was also the mind behind Toro in Boston. A fun fact! Though, I’ve got to say, Miami is lucky because I like QP more <3

We came for dinner without a reservation and luckily got a table for 2. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and the atmophere was quite cool.

We ordered the Idiazabal Cheese, Uni Risotto, Grilled Mollejas, and the Basque Cheesecake to maridate some wine. Great options.

I would comeback but acknowledging it might be pricey for some tapas.

This is a PopUp restaurant so they share the dining room with a sushi restaurant. We really wanted to love this place…. But unfortunately they fell short of our expectations. The matrimonio appetizer was ok, they serve it on pan con tomate. Tasted good nothing bad to say about this dish.
The paella (69$) was actually burnt. Black at the bottom, I know it’s supposed to be crunchy but not burnt. The seafood was all previously frozen, nothing tasted fresh. We figured if we ordered dessert it would make up for the paella… we were wrong. The whole top of the Basque cheesecake was burnt. My husband and I looked at each other and said… “maybe it’s supposed to look like this”… till we googled it. We pealed this part off with my fork but couldn’t get that taste off. The waitress (who we later found out is one of the owners) never asked if there was a problem with it even after the whole top was pealed off and more than half of it remained on the plate.
There is potential here but paying these prices requires a lot more quality and attention in my opinion.

Came after reading some stellar reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Service was friendly, but the food was the star of show here- the uni risotto is so delicious and unlike anything I’d had before (been to Spain many times) so please do yourself a favor and don’t miss it. We also had the paella mixta which was crunchy and flavorful and we truly enjoyed it. The basque cheesecake was also yummy. My only regret is that it was only 2 of us eating and that we didn’t order anything else, so I plan to return with more people so I can try some of the other dishes in the menu that I saw on tables nearby and that looked amazing like the pan con tomate, yuca bravas or steak tartar. Will come back, and I’m hoping they either find a permanent venue or that this pop-up will continue for the foreseeable future, because the food here is truly special.

If jazz had a flavor, it would taste like QP Tapas. You really have to be emotionally prepared for how diverse the flavors are in these dishes. I came with a coworker on a whim and was absolutely blown away by how amazingly good the food tasted. Like semi-dissonant jazz notes, hitting all end of the scales, the variety in flavors, textures, spices and feeling of each dish is so unique that it makes for an exquisite experience in your mouth.

The chef obviously cares deeply for what he is doing and I could taste the love in the food. The staff is tremendously friendly and vigilant. We didn’t have a single server, but a host of people regularly stopping by our table to check on us.

I’m visiting from out of town and don’t ordinarily eat in Coral Gables, so the rest of my experience could be skewed. Caveat emptor. The parking is on the street and I had to download an app to pay, that was a little hassle. The music in the restaurant was loud enough that I had a hard time conversing with my coworker. The restaurant is a time-share with MKT Kitchen, so when you come you may have difficulty if you’re looking for a big sign that says QP Tapas. And finally, the meal was just a bit on the expensive side. My friend and I shared a bottle of Pellegrino, we had four tapas, shared an amazing meringue for dessert and I had a delicious cappuccino. Our bill was over $120. 20% service charge was included and I felt like that was definitely worth it.

While the negatives may be my own perception, and I struggled as to whether or not to give this restaurant five stars or four, I do have to say it’s a fantastic place and I would recommend it to family, friends, and coworkers.

This is the 4th time dining at QP and I highly recommend it! The garlic shrimp was really tasty and the veggie paella fed the whole table. The flavor profiles were very unique in everything that we tried. Basque cheesecake for dessert was amazzzzing!

AMAZING!!! Please Please Please try this place!!!!! Love Love loooooooooove this place and EVERYONE here ♡ Found this cutest restaurant on Instagram.
I’m Japanese, living in Miami for 12 years. This place is perfect for me because all my favorite are in this restaurant which is Japanese soul food Izakaya vibe with tropical ♡♡♡So much love was floating out from their instagram post. Couldn’t wait to visit this cutest place.

Welcomed by warming greeting. My husband has issue with back, recovering from twice surgeries so usually it is very difficult for him to sit and eat. But this place and everyone here made a magic. Everyone has biggest heart, chef Josh himself came to table to explain the menu, owner Ellie and staff Alex took cares of us like we are their family. Michael gave us awesome energy, made us feel like everything gonna be alright. And, food was EXTRAORDINARY!! Oh my God, I lived in London, and France, visited someplace in the world but I’ve never felt this feeling that every single bites brought us to another dimension like we feel they do really care with love for every single ingredient, and takes awesome care about them.

My husband has been eating in bed for few years because of back issue but first time after long years, we sat together and ate precious food together, and smile each other without seeing his pain and suffer on his face.

We can’t thanks enough. Thank you so sooooooo much for the very magical night. Can’t wait to come see you and experience those magical food at new place ☆ Love you all.
