QLQ is a new Venezuelan food truck in the area. My wife and mother-in-law came across it one day while they were driving. What caught their attention was the small Venezuelan flags, and they had to stop to see if it truly was a Venezuelan food truck. We’ve been looking for one for a while and haven’t found one.
When they got out of the car, it was true, it was real. The first Venezuelan food truck we’ve seen in the area since we’ve been here! The people running it are friendly, and are hoping to show Springfield/Eugene a new type of Latin American cuisine.
The food is good! If you haven’t had a Venezuelan arepa or empanada, you have to try it. My recommendation, the beef empanada. The tequeños are good too. They’re like…a mozzarella stick, in the sense that it’s breaded cheese, but different. Give it a try.
They do accept card payments, by the way.
Pay them a visit sometime, and if you like it, let others know 🙂

The food truck just changed hands; now it’s “El Sabor de Nicaragua”. Not Venezuelan, but they do have empanadas. Tostones con queso were amazing – freshly fried, crisp without being greasy. Empanadas were very filling, also crisp, great flavor. Good value for the dollar. The trailer has three picnic tables between it and the (busy) road, so not exactly great atmosphere, but I’m willing to put up with it.

My teenager and I wanted to pick a random food cart to try and we were so happy that this is the one we stopped at! The meat was seasoned so beautifully, kid got a chicken quesadilla and I got a shredded beef empanada. They also gave us a few of their cheese stuffed bread, I don’t remember what they were called, but tasty little bits. They were friendly and the woman was so sweet when we said that we liked her food. We will go back for sure!
