Amazing, authentic food. They have over 300 items on their menu! The owner, Wen Ji has been in the restaurant business for decades. They’ve catered for big names like Harvard and Pfizer, from small parties to 500+ people events.

Frozen dumplings can be bought from them 50 for $35 currently.

We sat down for dinner around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night. There were no other customers but us, sadly. The owner Wen Ji came out to greet us after we put in our order. He’s very friendly and chatty.

Personally, I’ve been looking for the perfect leek pie sporadically throughout my decade in Boston. No place makes it like this: perfect.

The leek pie is nicely pan-fried on the outside too a perfect crisp and succulent on the inside with a JUST thin enough of crust you’re not having more crust than filling.

The dumplings are A+ handmade. I make my own dumplings and wouldn’t give them up for typical store-bought brands that are bland without soy sauce. Theirs are great, definitely homemade perfection.

This place should have more foot traffic given the quality of the food! It might be due to lack of parking due to changes happening on Mass Ave.

Great hole in the wall spot with fresh ingredients and handmade dumplings. We enjoyed our time there and had a lovely chat with the owner. We were overwhelmed with their large menu and he asked us what we were in the mood for/what we like and decided on two dishes for us (cauliflower with beef and twice cooked pork belly with veggies!). Highly recommend!!

Delicious food! As vegetarians, we were delighted to find many dishes to choose from! We had the spicy eggplant, mapo tofu, Chinese broccoli with lots of garlic and the family style tofu with succulent chunks of tofu that I learned from another reviewer are made in house! The servings are large and we had plenty to take home for dinner the following day! The owners are very sweet and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. This is definitely a hidden gem. We parked right near the restaurant on Mass Ave or you could take transit.

Stopped in after a rough day and some excellent Chinese comfort food paired with friendly service really hit the spot. Dumplings were particularly good (some of the best northern style I’ve found in greater Boston), red braised pork was rich and flavorful, and the house-made cured pork belly (la rou) stir fried with fresh vegetables was cooked to perfection. I’d recommend asking if they have any specials/ off-menu items, as the la rou wasn’t on the menu but proved to be a particular highlight.

The pork with pickled Chinese vegetables is incredible. Dumplings were likewise great. Cucumber salad also gets my highest recommendation Owner delivered the food himself and was very friendly. He told us that it’s a family restaurant, they hand make everything in their kitchen, and they’ve been running for 18 years, the food definitely showed it! I’m very I’m looking forward to trying more of their menu!!!

Updated Aug 2025: this is a great authentic Chinese restaurant. Amazing dumplings, buns, and fish is so good. I loved the fried enoki mushrooms. All their food is really good and prepared with love. We don’t live nearby so it’s been years, and I can’t believe that owner Wen remembers us (we did eat there twice a week at some point haha) and our kids names! Kids devoured dumplings and buns.

(2014 review) Love, love, love! Wen (the owner) and his family and crew have been feeding us good home cooked meals for years. I love both their authentic Chinese food and American Chinese. Great vegetarian options and brown rice, there is something to please everyone. During their renovation, which took infinitely longer than expected, Wen paid his staff. Having done something similar for my own business, I have utmost respect for him. Now about food: My mother’s family is originally from northern Korea so a lot of their food is what I ate growing up in S Korea. My mother in law, who grew up in CT loves their general Gao’s chicken. My husband who loves all things spicy gets shredded beef with hot peppers and cucumber salad . My 3 y o daughter gets white rice ‘the best rice ever!’. My 18 months old son devours the entire order of chicken dumplings. I have been hooked to pork tripes and cold beef dish combined. If you love food, like we do, this is a must try. Ask what they have fresh that day.

Extremely disappointed! Rice was mushy. Lobster sauce was SO salty it was inedible. Al the fried food tasted old. A waste of money

my family comes here a lot for the authentic northern Chinese dishes. My favorites are the pork and shrimp dumplings (Soo plump, juicy and flavorful) and spicy fish! They all taste home cooked and are the perfect answer to northern Chinese food cravings.

I had the vegetarian leek dumplings which were excellent. Good environment too. My family had the shrimp dumplings and spicy string beans which were also very good.

My one suggestion is to have the wrap for the vegetarian dumplings a different color than that of the meat dumplings, which is what the nearby Szechuan’s Dumpling does. Otherwise it is impossible to tell which dumplings are which, and that can be a problem for vegetarians.

Also when we tried to call the phone would not be picked up, but that ended up not being much of a problem because we then decided to order through GrubHub.
