This is a top spot in KC and that’s saying a lot with so many barbecue choices. The burn ends are great. The chicken wings are very good. Surprisingly the Mexican street corn was superb. You can’t really go wrong here. The meats have an amazing smoked flavor and all the sides are good.

Food came fast.

Service was really good. Andrea was great.

The brisket, fries, and potato salad were really great. The pulled pork wasn’t super tender and a little tough to chew. The wings were good, but were under-saunced for my liking. Only some of the top half of the wing had sauce.

Overall it was good, but there are better spots in KC I have hit up in the past.

We had a wonderful meal here. I got reservations a few weeks ago, and I’m glad we did. The restaurant was packed and we didn’t have to wait at all. Since it was our first time here, we wanted try as much as we could. With three people we were able to try most of the sides and most of the different meats (not the chicken though).
For our appetizers we shared the onion straws (free if you join their club before arrival), and a small chopped salad. Our waiter was very helpful and offered to bring us both ranch and balsamic so we could taste them.
For mains my husband got brisket and burnt ends, with the fries and potato salad. I got ribs, pulled pork, and sausage, with the Mac and cheese and slaw. My daughter got a pulled pork sandwich with the orzo pasta salad. We all shared everything which was fun and so good! The real standouts were of course the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. The sausage was very good too. As far as sides go, we loved them all but the Orzo pasta salad was unbelievable and the potato salad was very good too. The fries were excellent. The only thing on the table we didn’t love was the slaw, but I don’t love really sweet cole slaw and it was very sweet to my taste. My absolute favorite thing was the salad though. It was cold and crisp, and extremely fresh. The homemade dressings were both delicious and the pickled red onions were amazing. I know when we return I will be getting the large salad as my entree and I’ll add meat to the top. It was that good! BBQ places aren’t usually known for their salads but this one should be. We were too full for dessert, but there’s always next time.
Just an fyi: it is very noisy in this restaurant. If you have folks in your party that are sensitive to noise, have them bring their earplugs so they can enjoy their meals to the fullest.

Service was good. There was no wait as we went at 5:30pm on a (very cold) Friday. However, by the time we left around 6:30 the tables were full.
From the poutine to the meat, the bites were inconsistent. There would be really salty bites vs not salty in the poutine. The BBQ did not really come out hot. There would be bites in the pulled pork that were cold.

The brisket was good though! The highlight imo. Very “bendable” and not dry.

Overall for BBQ, it’s good. Would I make it a point to visit again if I’m back in KC? Realistically no. I’m glad I tried it, but I’m okay with that being it.

This place was recommended so we made a special trip from Topeka to try it. We were NOT disappointed!! From the atmosphere to the fantastic server to super fast service, we will definitely return. It is recommended that you make a reservation, which we did (for 11:45 on a Saturday) and at that time it was not very busy but it didn’t take time to fill up by 12:30.

Q39 is incredible! We stopped here on a road trip back to St. Louis, and it was delicious! The open kitchen is fun, and the meal is extremely thoughtful! Our server, Genesis, was very knowledgeable and helped us make excellent decisions as everything looked amazing! We would definitely come here again!

Wonderful BBQ! We were visiting from NC, so we had to check out Kansas style BBQ. Not disappointed Definitely try to burnt ends and brisket. If you’ve never had them, the burnt ends are similar in texture and fat content to ribs – so you can order both, but you might get more variety if you choose another combo on your plate. No wrong choices though! I also loved the potato salad and baked beans (which are a little sweet and have burnt end pieces on them). The food arrived very quickly. Also our server Uriel was the best and made sure we got great service and could leave in time to catch our flight 🙂

Awesome place to share dinner with friends and co-workers. Shared a great experience with a group, and the head chef & GM did a great job walking us through their culinary experience. Brisket, pulled pork, and meat marshmallows were amazing!

Zander was my server and he was a 10/10! Wow. I can’t say enough about the great service and his recommendations. He was very attentive and had great energy. The ribs were the BEST I’ve ever had. The cucumber onion salad was an incredible pairing as well. I’ll be back! Get what I told you to… you won’t regret it! Also, I hope you get Zander 🙂
