Two friends who spent over a decade in Washington, D.C., a city with excellent cocktail bars, recommended this spot. It didn’t disappoint. Popping in on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a friend around 9:30pm, here’s my experience.
1) Cocktails: Their menu is large and includes cocktails, wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and small bites. My friend ordered a seasonal cocktail and I started with the Passion Spritz, which was my favorite with passion fruit and guava. For my second drink, I ordered the French 75, which was average. It has good taste, but it came with a large ice cube. The cocktail was more watered down than ones I’ve had chilled v. with an ice cube.
2) Service: It was attentive and friendly. Throughout our stay, the servers checked in with us at appropriate times. All were approachable.
3) Space: It’s simple yet chic with plenty of places to sit at the bar, at tables, and on couches.

This was so much better than I was expecting.
Cassie is awesome and I’m sure she is the reason why POH is as great as it is.
Food was delicious and excellent quality. Priced very reasonably as well.
I love that when we asked for more of a few items she happily agreed and charged a very fair price for the extra items. The drinks were perfect!
This was our first time here but we will definitely be back.
Recommend the charcuterie board, bread and butter, and the burrata.

If you are in Grand Rapids, stopping for a cocktail at Pursuit of Happiness is an absolute must!! Their French Martini goes down as one of my favorite cocktails- think rainbow sherbet flavor with delicate froth. Soooo tasty!! Next, I had the Aviation which was giving me lavender vibes with the crème de violette- it was crisp and refreshing with the luxardo cherry!
We shared the charcuterie board which was a fantastic spread and they were able to accommodate our gluten-free friends with GF crackers.
Decked with modern, contemporary decor, they also have a display of perfect little trinkets for gifts, and of course, bottles of their house Prosecco to-go if needed (which yes, the answer is YES)!!

Best first-time experience! Staff was absolutely phenomenal and so sweet! The vibe was minimalist but also swanky! Def my kinda spot and like 2 mins from my house. They had cocktails and delish lil deserts also really great snack items. CanNOT wait to go back!

Chic and calm atmosphere. All the bartenders were great! Highly recommend the burrata.. order one just for yourself! It’s that delicious you won’t want to share it! I enjoyed The Last Word drink. Will be coming back!

The atmosphere of this place is adorable. It was rented out by Cassidy Lynne for a podcast and they did amazing. From custom drink menus, to the chair setup, and the friendliness of workers. I’d love to visit sometime when it isn’t rented out.

Very cute space and the seasonal cocktail the “sly guy” was delicious. We tried their bubbly, “pursuit of happiness”, and so delicious. Can buy a bottle for under $27. Great deal!!!!
