This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch and dinner. I’ve been several times and I’ve never been disappointed by the food or service.

My most recent visit my boyfriend and I had their chips & caviar, butternut squash curry soup, smash burger, and their pork sandwich which were all to die for. We also had tasted a few cocktails and their spiked eggnog special was absolutely delicious!

I am gluten free and the staff is always so attentive and accommodating and although they are not a dedicated gluten free kitchen I’ve never gotten sick afterwards.

It is so nice to see a locally owed place doing well and serving up delicious food. Can’t wait to return for another delicious meal.

Purslane is what all gastropubs should strive to be. I live on Long Island but try to find excuses to always stop by Purslane even if it’s an hour out of my way. If I’m driving to Providence or Boston, it’s worth the detour and if you’re going to Newport, it’s a crime not to eat here.

The creative, beautiful dishes are affordable with a little Asian spicy kick to them. The cozy dinning room and bathroom with whimsical wallpaper make the ambience enjoyable or, if the weather permits, the sidewalk dining by firepit with a local beer makes for a fun time with your group.

No question deserving of a Bib Gourmand rating, this gem of a restaurant would have a monthslong waiting list if located in Boston or NYC.

Addicted to their smoked bluefish dip – have ordered 2 servings to go as my dinner before if that tells you something
everything else is phenomenal as well. One of my local favorites since they opened!! Beautiful interior and design.

edit: Their Chicken Milanese is perhaps my new favorite ?!?!

Purslane – A True Gem in Wakefield
Purslane is a must-visit in Wakefield! This spot has a fantastic, intimate and cozy setting with a genuinely fun vibe. The exceptional service makes you feel incredibly welcome from the moment you step inside.
The food is truly outstanding. We started with the pork belly appetizer, which was a delicious masterpiece of rich pork, fresh local tomatoes, and a kick of jalapeños. The crispy brussels sprouts that followed were also a perfect start.
For our main courses, the pasta puttanesca was absolutely divine. The rich, savory tomato sauce clung perfectly to the house-made pasta, with the tuna and anchovies adding a beautiful depth of flavor. My partner’s butterhead double smash burger was equally impressive, perfectly cooked and paired with delicious homemade cut fries.
We left completely satisfied and already talking about our next visit. Purslane perfectly combines a great atmosphere with phenomenal food. Highly recommend!

We came from New York to spend a few days by the ocean and stumbled upon this place and we’re so glad we did! The atmosphere inside is absolutely beautiful and full of life, with lots of real plants that make the space feel cozy and vibrant.

Our waitress was incredibly friendly and welcoming, with the kindest smile she truly made our visit special. My husband tried oysters for the first time, and they were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly served. The rest of the food was just as delicious, and we already know this will be our go-to spot every time we come back.

If you’re traveling and looking for a place with unique cocktails, fresh and flavorful food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere — this is the #1 place to go. Highly recommend to everyone!!!

Absolutely the best restaurant in southern RI. Food and service is 10 out of 10. The hanger steak frites is the best I’ve ever had. The bluefish dip is amazing! I’ve tried multiple dishes and all have been top notch. A must visit if you are in RI.

Absolutely stunning place, small and quaint with phenomenal food and drinks. Everything was flavorful and well portioned. Although the sandwiches were a tad messy, it was well worth it. Oysters were fresh, the Stuffie was large and flavorful, and the desserts were delicious. Service was great and just the all around vibe of the restaurant was homey and relaxing.

Absolutely loved our first experience here. The atmosphere is incredible- you feel like you’re eating outside even if you are at an indoor table. They have the most beautiful windows and plants and it’s such a wonderful change from the normal eateries! The food was fantastic. We started with the focaccia, which was insanely flavorful and delicious, then the brussel sprouts, which were also incredible, and then we had their lobster pasta special, an absolute amazing mix of flavors that was both creamy and light! Highly recommend this place. The servers were also really nice and attentive!

First time visit to Purslane on Saturday for lunch. We sat inside by a back window and enjoyed the nice weather. The interior is nicely decorated and unique. Enjoyed the selection of music, which was primarily obscure folk/indy/americana. We ordered the tuna crudo, mild version of the fried chicken sando, and Banh mi, and a large side of fries.

We enjoyed the tuna, especially the acidity, but sometimes it fought with the spicy chili flavor. The seasonings are quite strong, so the essence of tuna is non-essential. It could be any fish, or even non-meat/fish in this particular flavor combination.

The chicken was cooked well, but the presentation was a bit sloppy, making it challenging to eat. The batter on the chicken was crispy, but very dark, suggesting either heavily seasoned batter (which it didn’t taste like) or a need to change the frying oil. See the photo.

Banh mi was okay. There’s a spice in the garlic pork sausage that we can’t quite figure out, but it’s slightly off in the total flavor profile for the seasoned Vietnamese pork. Baguette is not the ultra light and crispy bread typical of the Banh mi sandwich, and as such makes the sandwich a bit dense.

Fries were good, served hot and fresh and large was a perfect sharing size for 2-3 persons.

I would recommend checking out this place. There are a number of interesting dishes on the menu, and we will go back to try their dinner options.
