I’ve never heard of this place and decided to look up the menu and saw that they had a very wide variety of foods and we decided to go. I want to say that it was sooo delicious! I got a shroom burger and the meat was handmade, not processed! It was a huge burger and the best ive had in a long time. My daughter had a steak wrap and it was also huge and very good. The fries were fantastic! The food was made fresh and hot! The service was great! And we would definitely go back and try something else.

Been coming here for over 20 years, but I won’t ever return to this location. The gyros used to be pretty full (see older pictures others have posted). Now you are lucky if you get more than 2 slices of gyro meat per gyro. Unbelievable grift by the owners.

I wanted some hummus and mint tea on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Purple Onion in Hoover was the perfect choice!! Yummy fresh hummus and warm pita bread with mint tea hit the spot. The young men behind the counter were friendly, helpful and very prompt with my food. I will be coming back here. I encourage anyone that wants some good Mediterranean food to try this location.

This use to be the place to go to especially for a late night meal with above average health rating of 85.
As of recently I went through the drive thru and waited literally an hour for a meal that wasn’t even freshly hot and I wasn’t alone either. Many customers that night had to leave our cars just to see what was going on and oh boy I tell you it was like over at least over 15 order just sitting there, most were DoorDash but there were an awful amount of customers waiting between dine in and drive thru and AGAIN BAGS JUST SITTING THERE!

Been eating at Purple Onion for over 20 years. Had not been to this location. Parking lot was empty. Two employees working in front and two (that I saw) cooking in back. Ordered tabooli, baked potato, gyro sandwich with extra taziki sauce to go. Order was placed at 7:52pm. Order received at 8:30pm. That would be unacceptable even if they were busy. The tabooli was at least a day old and lacked any lemon and oil dressing. Baked potato was burned top and bottom. Looked pretty split open with cheese and sour cream. Gyro meat and pita bread tasted fine. Shredded lettuce on the sandwich was wilted and tasted awful. I will not be back to this location.

I have eaten numerous times at the Green Springs and the Pelham locations with no complaints.

Before I made this post, I just noticed the 3.8 rating and I see that was my first mistake. I always check the ratings first, but I’ve been here before. I waited over 25 minutes and paid for a twenty something dollar meal, the grilled chicken kabob plate. Instead I received something that taste like OLD BAKED CHICKEN ON A STICK. Nothing wad fresh or grilled, my meal even had a bad smell. I won’t let this location be a bad reflection on other Purple Onion locations. But I WONT EVER GO BACK.

First time eating here but definitely won’t be the last. The workers are super friendly and very helpful while the food is fresh and delicious.
I had the Pita Club Roll-up and it was perfect for this hot weather. All the veggies were fresh, the meat was flavorful and was perfectly wrapped up in a toasted pita.
My mom ended up getting the tuna salad plate and she loved it, which is saying something. It was packed full of flavor and super fresh.
We are super happy and can’t wait to come back.

I’ve eaten at Purple Onion for years. I’ve lately thought it was too expensive but I still was willing to pay for it. After today… no more. The gyros were pathetic. They barely put anything in them and don’t even add lettuce anymore. They’re half the size they used to be and didn’t taste as good with the same hefty price. Even the fries were not the same. I don’t know how you make fries soggy and dry at the same time.
