Forgot to write this when went the other day..We stopped in, for the first time, after church on Sunday. There was initially no one there, but it started filling up by the time we left.

Now, let’s talk about the food! Please excuse the pictures of half eaten food. We dove in and then I decided that I needed to make this review. We had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. I ordered the Chuck Norris Chicken Sandwich and my husband got the fried catfish. It was all DELICIOUS!! Our server, Jackie, was great as well! We’ll definitely be back!

This restaurant has everything going for it but just can’t execute. The latest move away from a fast casual order format is a mistake and the plates and presentation need revisiting. For example, $8 gets you a side plate of fried okra and no dipping sauce of any kind. Brisket is okay; however, you need to catch it on the day of the week it was cooked.

Today we had a fantastic lunch. The brisket tacos with fried Okra. Ok so maybe the side was different but best okra and brisket hands down!. There fries were so good, my hubby had those with a jalapeño cheese bun full of brisket! This was the best BBQ and service was spot on!

My first visit, likely my only visit. Met a friend for a business lunch and we were excited to give Pure country a try. (Side note; my first visit was a few weeks ago, but by 4:30 pm, they were out of brisket, ribs and sausage. They were making there sandwiches)

I ordered the brisket plate with a side of sausage. Service was quick but food was bland and unexciting. The brisket was very moist and tender, but essentially flavorless. No rub. No Smoke (or even a smoke ring). Bland dry sausage. The potato salad was good, as was the cream corn. Good but not Great or WOW! And while it is convenient, I don’t like the sliced bread in a bag or the pickles and onions. May be sanitary, but also feels institutionalized, which in my mind is not the ‘vibe’ you want. Even the potato salad seemed to have machine processed potatoes in very small clean cut chunks (bits may be more appropriate).

Sorry to say, that with so many texas BBQ joints to choose from, why settle?

The cheeseburger was good, fries were too salty. The sausage looks like it was boiled. And the brisket was wait to fatty and greasy. Baked potatoe was delicious and the Texas twinkies were good too.

I had lunch on a Saturday. There was a baby shower (buffet style) but not that many other people. We ordered from the QR code on the picnic tables outside. My friend had to go get our drinks and got one of the disc’s that buzz when the food is ready. Over a half an hour later, we went to check on our food. No alert and our food was cold. This my first time being here since new ownership and Im not impressed.

Update 6 months after initial review: Still can’t give them more than a 3 star…Came back to give them a second chance on the food. Party of 4 on a Sunday at noon. Food is still not up to par with the previous establishment (D&P). The basic burger was rated as good, but not special. The club was good (but the bacon well overdone), but the mashed potatos were bland. The 2x meat sandwich had good/moist brisket, but the sausage was average at best. Their sauce is very sweet and was not liked by 3x of the four at our table when tasted. The fries and okra were basic (they still don’t have tater tots). The breakfast plate was below average…bacon way overdone, eggs (omlet style) came out luke warm. The french toast was ok, but not great.
Atmosphere is still nice and what they have done outside is great, but they are definitely a step down in food.

First review:
Been waiting to try the replacement for D&P in order to let them get the ‘kinks’ out of opening. Party of 5 on a Thursday for dinner. From time of order to delivery was still pretty slow (just under 30 minutes).

First the good: The atmosphere has not changed. It is family friendly and fun. We like that they moved the ‘bingo’ outside since it was always distracting and loud inside. Food-wise there were some good points. Sweet potato fries were rated as excellent, the chopped brisket was moist (more on that later though) and had good flavor. The fries are standard as were the chips. The wrap was rated as good. Unfortunately, none of the food was considered by our group to be exceptional.

Now the not so good: They eliminated the first set of menus when you enter, thereby causing a backup at the ordering counter. Put the menus back on the screen so people can make their decisions before entering the line. The chopped brisket (though it had good flavor) was very greasy. After the first couple bites, the bun fell apart. The BLT seemed more like a grilled cheese with the BLT ingredients added as an afterthought. This is the first place we’ve ever eaten that has cheese on a BLT. They were out of sausage (even though the menu did not indicate so), so that reduced some of the offerings. The burger was on the dry side.

Overall, not very impressed. We’ll give them another try, but…

Pure Country BBQ & Grill is a fantastic spot for anyone craving real, down-home barbecue. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a true country-style vibe that makes you feel right at home.

The BBQ is outstanding—tender, smoky, and full of flavor. From brisket and ribs to pulled pork and classic sides, everything is cooked to perfection and served in generous portions. The sauces complement the meats perfectly without overpowering them.

This is one of those gems you randomly come across that hits in every way. We got the brisket tacos with sweet potato fries. Unbelievably good and cheap for what you get. Great music at a nice level. Great hidden secret and made for a perfect nice with a full belly and feeling good. Warm friendly servers to boot 🙂

This is such a cool place, I just wish the food was better. My boyfriend got the sausage plate and it tasted freezer burnt and bbq sauce that tasted like ketchup only. I got the grilled salmon, hush puppies and fries. The salmon was mediocre and fries and hush puppies definitely needed some salt because they tasted bland. Very disappointed as the restaurant itself is cute, but the food just sucks. Maybe I’ll try it again in a couple months.
