First time customers and when I walked in had no clue it was a fish store as well. The lady at the counter was super helpful and showed us the menu to order take out. The store also had some sauces/seasonings to buy plus you could get fresh fish to take home as well.

We ordered one meal for $26 of pickerel and fries. It fed two of us 3 pieces of fish each and a handful of fries. Also came with tartar sauce and coleslaw. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back

Recommended: delicious lake perch and crispy fries. You can sit next to the river and they warn that the boats could cause waves to lap up onto the picnic area. It’s a beautiful place to see the boats, seadoos, people enjoying life and seagulls trying to steal food.
The perch dinner gives you 5-6 pieces of fish, fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. ($27+) If you order only fries ($6.75) it’s huge. You can fill a whole cookie sheet with the amount you get. (Yes, I tried that, because we brought leftovers home.)
The customer service is fast and friendly. They’re patient with you as you ask questions.

If you’re craving perfectly crispy, golden fried fish that melts in your mouth, look no further! This fried fish spot is an absolute treasure. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the mouthwatering aroma of freshly fried seafood and a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The service is fast and friendly, and the portions are generous for the price. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or treating the family to a seafood feast, this place delivers every time.

Trust me—once you try it, you’ll be hooked! Five stars all the way.

Great spot for fish & chips right on the water.
We stumbled upon this gem purely by accident. A wrong turn led us to this spot, with a spectacular view of the St Clair River and boats going up and down.
We decided to eat here and see what it was all about since it was very popular and the setting looked so nice on a hot summer day.
They offer one type of food. – fish & chips.
You place your order at the window, and they assign you a number. When your number is up – you collect your order – and get your condiments, and then go finnd a spot to sit to eat your meal.
Some tables are covered, others are open. but most are right on the water.
Its a lovely setting in town

prices are about $20+ per meal. there is plenty of onsight parking.

Right on the water outdoors. The sign says it all. Fish was fresh and hot. Good fries. Can’t ask for more. Outdoor only so you need warm enough weather or takeaway.

Purdy’s Fried Fish in Sarnia is a must-visit for seafood lovers. Located right by the waterfront, this charming eatery offers delicious varieties of fried fish dinners. (fish varies by the day, depending on what is caught – e.g. Pickerel/Walleye, Perch, etc.)

The Food

We were in Sarnia in early July and decided to stop by for a fried fish dinner right next to the river. The option on the day we visited was Pickerel (Walleye for us Americans). The dinner option was good value for the money and provided a large portion of fish, a large portion of French Fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, etc. They also offer gravy as an additional option for a relatively small extra charge. In terms of drinks, there were the typical soda products, water, ice tea, etc. Everyone in our group really loved the fish (crispy on the outside and tender on the inside) as well as the excellent French Fries.

The Service

The staff at Purdy’s were friendly and efficient and made the overall experience enjoyable. They quickly took our order and then expertly prepared our food. My feeling was that if you are a regular or a first-time visitor, they will make you feel welcome.

The Ambiance

Purdy’s has a unpretentious, casual vibe. The outdoor seating area made up of picnic tables is the perfect place to enjoy your food and view the boats going by on the river.

I really enjoy the fish from Purdy’s. They know what they are doing with preparing those fish, which I believe they still also catch themselves (although could be wrong now). I love that it is along the waterfront, and it feels right that it is. I just always have trouble finding the entrance to the lot at this place. Always end up at the casino some how! But when I am able to get there and eat my meal…. chef’s kiss.

Wow! Finally made after seeing it on TV years ago. Was not disappointed. HUGE portions. The Pickerel was light and flaky. The batter crisp and not overpowering the fish. We will def be back. Great view too.

You just can’t go wrong with this place. every summer I am there at least 7-8 times with friends ands family. I make that 50 minutes drive as I like their fish and chips. I just wish they would stay open 7 days a week or at least Saturday and Sunday.
