Unfortunately due to an ongoing issue with securing staff, we have decided to close our doors for good on May 12th 2024. We want to thank our amazing and dedicated staff that has brought us to this point. The success we’ve had and the obstacles we’ve overcome were only possible because of them and all their hard work and dedication. We want to thank everyone for all the support over the years. It’s been an absolute pleasure serving the community. We are sad to go but unfortunately we are unable to continue serving the public in a way that we have all come to expect. And so it goes another chapter in live has come to an end. Thank you all for your support through these difficult times. Please come in and see us before May 12 2024!

I visited the beautiful city of Punxsutawney, PA over the weekend. I was a little hungry and was told this is the place all the locals go. So, off to Punxy Phil’s Family Restaurant I went hoping for a good, down home meal. It was easy to find & easy to park, big ol’ parking for sure. I was greeted quickly by the hostess, who seated me at a table (which I requested). Your seating options are tables or booths. My waitress came to my table to get my drink order. She was very pleasant & polite, always a hallmark of a good restaurant. The menu offered a variety of comfort food entrees, which I absolutely love. They also had the option of the breakfast served all day, for all you breakfast lovers out there. I went with the homemade meatloaf dinner with a mushroom soup & dinner salad. It was fabulous, the meatloaf was tasty, tender & covered with gravy. To compliment my dinner I had a piece of peanut butter & chocolate pie for dessert. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, very relaxing with all the locals enjoying their meals. I will definitely be back when I’m down this way again. If you are ever in punxsutawney, stop in and enjoy a meal here.

The food was good, their coffee was decent, but it was very busy. If you have more than 3 people in your party you might have to wait for a table. The bathrooms are on your left as you enter the restaurant.

Passing through on our way to Cleveland we stopped off in town and decided on this restaurant. It was pretty full with what seemed like mostly locals which is a good thing, it’s not just a tourist trap. The waitress was very helpful and pleasant, locals seemed very nice. The prices were very good. I was going to buy a coffee mug from the display case, but there was no price listed so I didn’t bother. I ordered the chicken Parmesan meal, and being from NJ. This wouldn’t fly back home at an Italian restaurant, but considering the location, it was pretty good, and for the price $9.99 I can’t complain at all. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we would definitely stop back in the future.

Husbands meat lovers omelete was excellent.
Got the creamed chipped beef and it was way too salty, took 2 bites and couldn’t eat it.
Re ordered, blueberry pancakes, they were good. Ended up paying for both meals.
Prices were reasonable. It was over $10 pp due to having to pay for the meal I couldn’t eat. Restaurant was clean and had 6′ distancing. Coffee was good.

Husband got meatloaf sandwich. Said it had an off taste. I got hot turkey sandwich meat was very dry like it had been left in a warmer too long. Neither of us finished our meals.

Stopped this sunday morning and had breakfast. Had two pancakes a piece of French toast and a side of home fries mysteriously yellow tinted which I could not figure out why I think it might be fake butter.. it did taste good .. no complaints other than temperature not being very hot.
Pancakes fluffy french toast with good.
Also had chicken salad wrap with fries.. the wrap was better than expected considering it was ordered on accident.. miscommunication to be exact. And the fries are just typical french fries nothin special.
The waitress was friendly. But a little slow on the service but it was also very busy.

Great family restaurant in a historic city. Our waitress was very sweet and the food was very good. Try a slice of pie for dessert. The restrooms were very clean.

My Family & I came up to PUNXSUTAWNEY, PA to pick up some items that they had purchased for their Home. While We were up here, We thot we would do some Sightseeing. Before we did that tho, We stopped at a VERY BUSY Eatery called “PUNXY PHIL’S FAMILY RESTAURANT”. When We walked in there was a Waiting Line. However tho We were seated within a few mins, But the wait for a waitress was a lot LONGER. There were APOLOGIES by both the HOSTESS & the WAITRESS & seeing HOW BUSY the place was, We were Ok then. What made it BETTER was the DELICIOUS meals that came to Our table. The Waitresses were GENUINELY FUNNY & VERY HELPFUL as to getting Our Meals & Drinks to us & if we needed anything else, They were there. They are VERY GENEROUS w/ their portions & the FOOD was DOWNRIGHT DELICIOUS. You can tell that the “PUNXY PHIL’S FAMILY RESTAURANT” Staff is VERY PROUD of their place of business & what they’ve accomplished. The RESTAURANT’S Manager & other Assistants were in there working together, Which IMPRESSED Me very much. My Wife & I plan on going up to this GREAT TOWN again & a RETURN Stop at “PUNXY PHIL’S FAMILY RESTAURANT” will be a MUST STOP. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you GO there too.
