From the outside, a little shady. But inside, really nice! Im gonna be honest, being a white girl and not knowing barely any Spanish, I was scared. Lol. But I like there food so you gotta do what you gotta do.

Very friendly staff. They were very patient to this gringo who doesn’t know how to order correctly or speak Spanish. Also, the food is great. New renovation inside is nice. The only downside is the parking lot is small and tight and always full. But always full is a sign of good food!

If you’re looking for an authentic experience that includes feeling unsafe and getting financially humbled, this is the place for you.
First, the restaurant is located in an area where I didn’t exactly feel like taking a relaxing stroll. More like a “walk faster and clutch your bag” kind of vibe. Now let’s talk about the pricing — because wow. Apparently, they have two menus:
One for locals / Dominicans
One for “tourists” (also known as “gringos with wallets”)

I checked the lunch special prices before ordering. The rice and chicken stew lunch special was clearly listed as $4.99… yet somehow I was charged $10. The mofongo with chicharrón was listed at $9, but I was charged $16. Amazing! Inflation moves FAST in this restaurant. When I asked about the difference, the owner gave me a look that said, “You should’ve been born Dominican and fluent in Spanish. Next question.”

So unless you’re Dominican or speak Spanish, I’d recommend skipping this place… unless you enjoy getting overcharged with confidence and leaving with enough sodium to preserve a turkey.

We were in the area and decided to try something new. I was very disappointed. The food was not that great We had pulled pork and chicken breast. The pulled pork was very salty. The chicken breast was OK. One thing to know the menu did not have any prices on them which I do not like at all.

We loved it. I had Mofongo with Pernil and my wife had Mofongo with Chicharron. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly. We talked about our 5 hour drive home after eating and she offered a cup of coffee they had just made a pot in the kitchen for the staff, and they don’t sell coffee. I recommend Punta Cana Restaurant.
