Rasoi, which means cooking, reminds me of delicious food cooked by my mother back home in India. Many of my fondest childhood memories include sneaking into the kitchen for freshly made snacks, sweets and basically a handful of anything my mom made. As I moved to different parts of the world, I kept missing the aroma and taste of my mother’s creation of flavorful dishes. This yearning led me from engineering to becoming a chef. I learned cooking in the busy streets of Delhi, transplanted the flavors to the busy streets of NYC and finally settled as a Head Chef in Virginia Beach. Now, after 30 years in the industry I felt short on liberty to create the flavors of my childhood dishes, leading me to open Punjabi Rasoi, the closest thing to

With great flavors, generous portions and friendly service, I really enjoyed my 1st visit of this location. The Samosas were perfectly crisp, non-oily, flaky golden-brown crust with a savory, aromatic filling! The Butter Chicken at a 3 was spicey good without being regretful . The Prawn Biryani had huge, delicately seasoned prawns with herbs and spices and cooked in saffron and cumin flavored basmati rice So good!! Oh and the Garlic Naan was perfect!

Just had the chicken tikka masala here and wow it was absolutely amazing! The sauce was super flavorful and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. You can tell they really know what they’re doing in the kitchen. On top of that, the staff was incredibly attentive, checking in often, water was topped at all times and making sure everything was perfect. Definitely coming back for more!

Such a lovely couple runs this stellar Indian restaurant, which serves the tastiest and freshest of its kind in the area!
For the few moments it took for our dishes to arrive, we could just tell the level of freshness and care that goes into EVERYthing.
We went with the staple Butter Chicken and Chicken&Shrimp Zafrani entrees (a new fave for me!). Soooo tasty with the perfect HINT of spice for us (we are #1 wimps haha).All the veg on the Zafrani dish were perfectly crisp tender, which was a notably pleasant surprise! Even the rice was superb!
And the Garlic Naan….mmmm…utter perfection.
But don’t take my word for it – run don’t walk!
We will be back soon!!! Fabulous!

I visited before the dinner crowd, therefore it wasn’t very busy. That said there was zero wait time.

HIGHLY recommend this Indian restaurant! We went with a medium sized group and the hospitality and atmosphere made us feel like we were right at home. The food was delicious, and each dish we had was a 10/10. Had a great time chatting with the owner also, he really went above and beyond for the service. One of the best Indian restaurants at VIrginia Beach, and the prices are worth it.

This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever tried! The lamb was so tender and flavorful, with no trace of gaminess. The portions were generous, ideal for sharing between two people. My husband had the butter chicken, while I opted for the lamb masala and Punjabi lamb platter. Our server was attentive and accommodating, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal. The ambiance was also pleasant and contemporary.

Dropped in for dinner with my family, kids first time having curry and we definitely enjoyed every bit of it! Great customer service, they were very kind and polite as I tried to explain the options to my kiddos! Food was served with great timing, we got an appetizer and had more than enough time to enjoy them, talk about our day a bit & the dinner plates were on the way over to our table! The atmosphere of the restaurant is colorful, cozy, and very welcoming. It was my husband and I’s first time at this restaurant and we plan on frequenting it because of the awesome food , the polite staff, and the sweet owners. When I asked our waiter if they had egg curry on their menu, he said no but gladly accommodated us which was super sweet and appreciated. Egg curry was one of the first dishes I had when meeting my husband’s family for the first time 13 years ago so it holds a soft spot in my heart. I can’t wait till the next we stop by to dine in, this restaurant deserves all the love and I plan on recommending them to our friends.

Environment was super cool, food was absolutely perfect. I got the chicken korma with a three spice level. 10/10 can recommend. Ordering with naan is a must. Beer selection was excellent too. I got the Virginia IPA. Perfect with all the spicy food. My girlfriend and I will absolutely be coming back.
