This restaurant holds a special place in my heart as an avid lover of Indian cuisine. I had fond memories of the previous owner, and recently, I decided to return after a long time. I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner’s daughter, who impressed me with her kindness, professionalism, and natural leadership qualities.

The food was absolutely fantastic. The garlic and coconut naan were perfectly prepared, full of flavor and texture. We ordered the dinner for two, and I must say, the portions were incredibly generous—enough to comfortably feed four people.

I will undoubtedly be returning, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious Indian food and exceptional service.

New ownership! Dining room is actually clean now and smells good.

Appears to be North Indian cuisine.

These are some interesting dishes and everything was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, and I got the impression this is a family run joint. Based on how the dishes came out, it they were indeed being cooked from scratch with care and attention to detail.

They even played Ravi Shankar when we asked them!

I haven’t tried their buffet but this place easily is a top 5 Indian spot on the south shore.

Omg. I used to get vegan samosas delivered all the time before I moved to Quincy. And I had almost despaired of finding any here. But not only did Punjab Cafe have them, but they are amazing! If anything they’re better than the ones I was used to. I also tried their Mushroom Bhaji which was amazing.

And don’t all you meat eaters rule this out! My partner was super impressed with their Chicken Masala and their Garlic Naan. It’s hard to find places that have both amazing vegan food and amazing “omnivore” food. This place is it!

As I read this over, I’ve noticed I use the word “amazing” over and over, but I’m not going to fix it. It’s well earned. This place amazed me. 🙂

Got the Royal Chaat (with samosas), Vegetable Momos, Punjabi Kadhi Pakora, and Garlic Naan.
The Punjabi kadhi was the standout dish; the yoghurt-based curry was delicious! The garlic naan was also pretty good.
The Royal Chaat was pretty good, but slightly bland. I liked the samosas, but I wish the sauces were slightly tangier and spicier as they were on the sweet side.
The vegetable momos tasted weird because of the excessive amount of ginger in them. They would’ve been great without too much ginger as the dough was really well made.

Delicious food! Particularly the chicken dishes. The vegetarian dishes were also pretty good but the baingan bartha wasn’t the best. Would still recommend. I’m sure I’ll come again.

This has become my weekly treat for lunch. You cannot beat the price and quantity of the lunch specials. My favorites are the chicken tikka masala and paneer saag, but everything I’ve tried is great. Always arrives hot and fresh. I will need to try their weekend buffet next! Thank you for providing a wonderful, cozy lunch for me weekly!

The Punjab Cafe has never disappointed. Service is great and the food is always a delight. Try the vegetable samosa, the garlic nan, and the chicken tiki marsala.

Okay, so I’m going to answer some questions about this place I had before going here based on reviews.

1. They do dine in and take out.
2. They have bottled beer, wine, spirits and cocktails.
3. The food is really good and has a lot of flavor. One of the best Indian places in boston in my opinion (based on my one experience today – I will be going back)
4. They do a lunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays.
5. Friendly, quick and attentive service.
6. Clean restaurant, with a cute interior.

And one question I had based on my experiences in other Asian/Indian restaurants.

7. They don’t make the food less spicy because they assume as a white person you can’t handle it. ❤️

Overall 5/5

I heard so many good things about this place so I had really high expectations. Unfortunately, when I went it didn’t really meet any of my expectations. It was very lacking in flavor and spices. Servers were nice and attentive.

Started with the paneer and it was very bland. Would like to try their samosas next time. I really enjoyed their garlic naan. Each curry comes with a HUGEEE portion of rice which is nice.

The goat curry was definitely a little dissatisfying. The curry was too sweet and lacked a lot of curry flavor and spice. The goat was nice and juicy.

Chicken masala was decent but still lacking in flavor. Chicken was super dry. Maybe go for the dark meat instead of white meat.

I’ve had my last straw with this place after I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt for giving me leftover food a few months ago. Recently, I ordered mild spice with my chicken dinner – the spice was so strong that my family and I could not even finish the meal. It was so spicy that we all started to drip sweat from our scalp and I had a stomach ache after, which lasted for almost 12 hours. That wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was the basmati rice had a BLACK PIECE OF SHORT CURLY HAIR THAT STILL HAD IT’S FOLLICLE ATTACHED TO IT’S ROOT. I am NEVER ordering from Punjab Cafe again. You did your customers DIRTY. Hope all that was worth it!

And one more concern is that you have to charge your customers for ONLY TWO TINY THIN PIECES OF PAPADUM AND ALL EXTRA TINY SAUCE IN A TINY PIECE OF CUP, that should be included with the order. Like how restaurants and eateries include rolls, sauce, etc for their customers FOR FREE OF CHARGE. You have lost my respect!!
