Stopped here for lunch while visiting the Aviation Museum. The staff was warm & welcoming. The restaurant was clean, and pleasant.
I ordered the combo of sliced brisket, pulled pork, with 2 ribs. Hush puppies, and green beans for sides.
All of the meats had a great smokey flavor. I was very impressed with the pulled pork. It was full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The brisket likewise had great flavor, though a little fatty for my taste. Other folks may prefer that, I prefer my brisket on the lean side. Flavor was great. Ribs had a very unique rub to them. Good flavor.
Sides: Green beans were very good. They were akin to homemade green beans slow cooked by Grandma. Hushpuppies might just have been the best I’ve ever had. They were sensational.
I would eat here again without question.

Best BBQ at the Beach. I’ve tried almost the entire menu. You can’t go wrong. Fresh, hot, sauces are free. Alabama White is the bomb! Staff is great, food comes out fast. If you want good BBQ. Go to Pungo Boys. For you tourist – it should be a must stop before heading to Sandbridge.

My mom brought me out here for my birthday. We’ve been hunting a similar BBQ to what Bennett’s Creek Market sold. While it’s not comparable to their BBQ, it is now my favorite for the Hampton Roads area. Their banana pudding is amazing and trumped my favorite from a Texas restaurant called Red Rock Steakhouse. The staff was kind and awesome! We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for being so accommodating and kind to us on my birthday. 🙂

Got the sliced brisket with mac n cheese and collard greens. The brisket was the best I’ve ever eaten. Little bit of char on the outside, beautiful smoke ring on the inside. The taste was incredible. Mac n Cheese, they really put some heart and soul into as well. The collard greens were great as well. All three things, you can tell that the people in the kitchen care about their craft. Highly recommend checking this place out

Great food, and welcoming folks! It’s so hard to find great barbecue and also great sauces. This place had both! That mango mustard hit just right!! The portions are huge! This was the first mac and cheese, that wasn’t my own, that I’ve ever enjoyed. The baked beans would make my grandma jealous and she had some incredible beans, sir! Will definitely go back!

Catering Order: I was visiting the Virigina Beach area (Sandbridge Beach) and needed to cater a family gathering for 40ppl. After reading the reviews and reviewing the catering menu, I submitted a catering request through the Pungo Boys BBQ website. I received a call almost immediately from Jim. He was very kind and extremely helpful in advising how much we would need to feed a group our size. Through our conversation, he learned we were a military family and when I received the invoice for our order, there was a military family discount included! On the day of our event, we opted to pick up the catering from the restaurant. It was ready on time, the staff helped us to load it in the car and doubled checked the order before we departed. The food itself was DELICIOUS – pulled pork, brisket, BBQ chicken, baked beans, mac and cheese, green beans, coleslaw, cucumber salad, and banana pudding for dessert. It was a hit with our crowd. The most popular sides were the mac and cheese and the baked beans, and Jim was on point with how many pounds of BBQ we would need to feed a group our size. And the day following our event, Jim contacted me to see if everything went well. Great customer service from beginning to end! If you are looking for someone to cater your next party or event, I highly recommend Pungo Boys BBQ. 5 Stars for communication (from the website to the staff), for their delicious BBQ and sides, and for their support of the military community. Thank you, Pungo Boys BBQ, for helping to make our family gathering such a memorable one.

This is some of the best BBQ I’ve had in Virginia. This local small business makes everything in house and provides top quality meats, sides and even makes their own desserts.
Their pulled pork was moist and tender and the 4 sauce choices were homemade and delicious. Mac and cheese was super cheesy and saucy. Brisket was smokey and pulled apart easily. I’m definitely going to go back!

This place is so awesome. The staff is amazing and so friendly, you can definitely tell it’s family owned. Such a welcoming atmosphere! The food is AMAZING. My husband got the brisket/pulled pork/sausage platter with mac and cheese and baked beans and I got the pulled chicken platter with mac and cheese and green beans. 10/10 across the board!! We are bbq lovers and my husband smokes his own meat at home and this is just as good, if not better (but don’t tell him ). We will absolutely be back considering we live right down the road. Highly recommend to anyone!!

Traveling in the area and tried on the recommendation of a Military Aviation Museum employee who shared once the BBQ here is gone for the day it’s gone.
We ordered burnt ends, brisket, a couple ribs, and pulled pork – and sampled all the sauces. The meats had good smoke flavor, and we enjoyed the House Sauce and the Sweet Mesquite the best.
The collards and BBQ baked beans were both unexpectedly unique but still really good.

Workers were great and so was the food! Brisket was excellent! The atmosphere was nice I loved the decor in the restaurant as well. Pretty decent sized menu and everything we ordered was good (ribs, brisket, Mac n cheese, collards, hush puppies). They have an array of house made BBQ sauces that were delicious too.
