Reviews
The service was painfully slow from beginning to end. The food took forever to come out, and after our check was dropped off, we sat for nearly 30 minutes just waiting for someone to take our card. It felt like we were completely forgotten about.
We started off our meal with the pork dumplings and espresso martinis, then had the pork belly clay pot noodles and the lamb shank hung lay curry, followed by the apple cake and dark chocolate tartlet for dessert.
Nothing was outright terrible – but at this price point, “fine” just isn’t good enough. The food portions were small, the flavors weren’t bold and exciting and overall nothing felt special. Our cocktails and desserts were the highlight of our experience. The desserts were familar but different enough to have a unique experience. However, when you charge premium prices, you’re asking to be judged by premium standards and nothing here felt premium, just overpriced and forgettable.
Overall I’m just frustrated, I want to like Puma Yu’s. The atmosphere is very nice, the food is presented wonderfully, but isnt a homerun flavorwise. The biggest thing is I just can’t justify spending nearly $200 and leaving hungry.
We don’t get out much these days because bringing small children places is a bit intimidating but Puma Yu’s welcomed them and even accommodated my picky eater.
We ordered all courses while dining and truly enjoyed each of them.
Our last time dining there we enjoyed multiple amazing cocktails, the Egg Rolls, Dumplings, the whole Branzino fish while my daughter enjoyed some fried chicken bites the chef so kindly made for her, we also enjoyed a recommended dessert from the menu.
All EXCELLENT!
Puma Yu’s is a family and staff oriented restaurant, they make sure that you feel welcome like family while also ensuring their staff is properly compensated for the amazing service they provide. Coming from a long history in the service industry I hold the upmost respect for how they value and care for their staff with an auto gratuity of 20%
Our next family night out we get the opportunity to have we will definitely be going back to Puma Yu’s to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere they’ve created and some of our very favorite Athens eats!
Parking is very easy, the whole Rivet House complex is very pleasant to get into and out of.
So why not 5 stars? I think the food menu is just SMALL, there’s not a lot of diversity, you essentially have ONE noodle dish, ONE fish dish, ONE curry. There is often going to be an interesting special like Fried Chicken or Flank Steak and again, I think the food is delicious, but it’s nice to have options, especially if you’re coming with a larger party. Pictures are from my most recent visit in October 2025.
I hope this warm weather is enjoyable for you as well.
(I have an organic and uncooked chicken that is find to consume at your gourmet high end restaurant)
I was loving my valentine weekends until I was eating fried chicken that is NOT fried.
Your server that was a white oldest lady server gaslighted me by saying “the chicken I organic and local from near by Athens so it’s okay. But I can get u another if u want” without any apology and not acknowledging the issue.
So we had to talk to other (male) server with ring bleached and he looked at it as I was explaining, noticed, and immediately took the plate to the kitchen. He was well mannered and dealt with the issue way more professionally.
And the fact that your business is “high end quality” and regardless of service taking a customer’s right and a power of choice on tip for the unprofessional performance/ service, nausea, and untimely delivery of professionalism is absolutely unacceptable.
UPDATED REVIEW::
I went a second time, and the menu is seasonal so it was a new menu. I got a pork noodle for $28. While the portion was large, it was quite greasy and left me feeling heavy. I will come back and try the desserts! The 20% included gratuity tip is also steep as the menu items are already expensive. I’m excited to try thr lunch options as well.
Food & Drinks:
The food is always so good. Lately we keep going back specifically for their small plates. The spring rolls are incredible, and the sauce they come with is honestly heavenly. The pork dumplings are also AMAZING. My friends and I usually stick to sharing the snacks and starters, but their larger plates are just as good. I personally gravitate toward the noodle dishes, and they never disappoint.
The cocktails are not only beautiful (served in the cutest fancy little glasses), but they really pack a punch. They also offer non-alcoholic options that I feel like are much more creative than what I usually see elsewhere.
Service:
Always incredible. Every server we’ve had has been kind, attentive, and extremely helpful whenever we have questions.
Atmosphere:
The whole place is just a vibe. The colors, lighting, seating, and music make it both relaxing and somehow rejuvenating. If my friends and I are having a bad day, Puma Yu’s is our go-to, and our mood is instantly turned around.
10/10 recommend.
