Social Profile:

Born in Mexico City, raised in California. Puesto Mission Valley channels the intensity of CDMX street food through a bold Southern California lens. Seasonal menus, creative takes, and the best ingredients in the hands of better chefs. Every tortilla starts with organic blue corn, made in-house like it’s been since 1200 BC. Our award-winning tacos and margaritas turn the flavors we crave—al pastor dripping with pineapple, crispy melted queso, bright citrus, smoky heat—up to 11. This is Mexicano Moderno. Made by food people. For food people.

Cool, industrial eatery serving tacos, ceviche & other Mexican fare, plus tequila & mezcal flights.

If possible, visit on Taco Tuesday when all tacos are half off. This makes the prices much more reasonable as they are fairly expensive. We started with chips and salsa and added the salsa bar. We liked the original chips and salsa, but we didn’t really care for any of the additional salsas that came with the bar. I then had the chicken and short rib tacos and my daughter had the filet mignon and carnitas tacos. I really liked mine, but she thought her tacos were just ok.
The decor and atmosphere was great. We sat out on the patio, and it was a great spot to enjoy the weather. This is a great spot for a girls night out or for after work drinks.

We came here on a Friday night for dinner, there were 4 adults, and two kids. We don’t have a reservation and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. It was a choice for sure.

I started with a margarita, and we got the trio of Guacamole. The mango and pomegranate guacamole were delicious, overall a great appetizer.

I got three tacos, a mushroom, chicken, and al pastor. They were served on fresh corn tortillas, although the tortillas were good the food was average. The protein and veggies were chewy on each taco.

At the end of the meal we got the churro sundae, it lacked flavor and was mostly vanilla ice cream with a churro, there needed to be more chocolate or even more caramel sauce.

Overall the staff were fast, and helpful.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a nice spot to relax with friends or a date.
That said, if you’re actually from Mexico or know authentic Mexican cuisine, the food might not quite hit the mark. The dishes look good, but the flavors don’t really capture the essence of real Mexican cooking. It feels more like a “Mexican wannabe”

It’s not terrible, just not truly authentic. Still, the good service and cozy vibe help make up for it. Overall, I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

Food – Pretty good. Filet mignon tacos were very good. Asparagus tacos needed another flavor to be interesting. Ribeye tacos were only ok – very disappointing because I had expected this to be my favorite.

Service – Excellent.

Pricing – Not competitive at all. Yes, there are taco Tuesdays but 85% of the week isn’t made up of Tuesdays. These are premium tacos served up at ultra-premium prices. After tax tip, and mandatory 4% surcharge for all parties regardless of size, I paid an average of $15 for each of my three tacos.

Overall – Worth a visit to try out, especially if you’re (like me) a visitor from out of town. Hard to recommend it otherwise though because your buck can go much further elsewhere.

We had a wonderful experience at Puesto in San Diego!
The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we tried exceeded our expectations.

A special shoutout to our server, Genesis, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Her recommendations were spot on and really elevated our meal.

Great food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere overall. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend Puesto to anyone visiting San Diego

Kind of expensive for what you get. For example they recommend getting 3 tacos (street taco size) at $10-$17/taco. So if you got 3 lobster tacos you’re paying $51 for those 3 street tacos only. That being said I opted for the Birria bowl. Found it to be just okay and most likely won’t go back

Food and service here is always consistently above average. On my most recent visit our server Ricardo C. recognized us from a previous visit and it really added to the overall pleasant experience. He was very personable, prompt and made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Amazing service and very family friendly. We love coming here!

Jayden was the best! How he handled our crazy party of 15+ was phenomenal! He didn’t get a single order wrong and made sure everything was perfect for our birthday guy. Even cut and served our cake. Like are you kidding me?! What a great person! 10/10 for Jayden!

My mother and I were looking for a place to enjoy some Mexican food. We found Puesto Mexican Restaurant in Mission Valley, and it was a great choice. It was Taco Tuesday and happy hour. We sat at a table on the patio, enjoying the blue corn tortilla tacos and margaritas, which were reasonably priced. We ordered the Rib-Eye Tacos. The must-try dessert is the Mango Cake, which is shaped like a mango and is delicious. Taco Tuesday pricing begins at 3 pm, and Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 3-5 pm. The servers were friendly and helpful explaining the menu.

From the moment we walked into Puesto in Mission Valley, we knew we were in for something special. The vibrant atmosphere, welcoming staff, and stylish decor set the tone perfectly — but it was the food and beer that absolutely stole the show.

The tacos? Unreal. Each one was a flavor bomb — perfectly seasoned meats, creative combinations, and that signature crispy melted cheese tucked inside? Game-changer. Every bite was bursting with freshness and authenticity. And don’t even get me started on the guacamole — easily some of the best I’ve ever had.

And the beer selection? A thoughtfully curated lineup of local craft brews and Mexican classics that pair flawlessly with the menu. Whether you’re a casual beer drinker or a full-on hophead, there’s something here that’ll hit the spot.

The service was also top-notch — attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely passionate about the food and drink they serve.

Puesto Mission Valley has easily earned a spot on my must-return list. If you’re craving bold flavors, a great vibe, and seriously good beer, look no further.
