After having fun at the UTV trails, decided to stop by here for lunch. So happy we did. Small Mexican restaurant, food was delicious and very fresh. Mexican guac was amazing flavor and taste. I ventured with tripe and tongue tacos. Kids and wife enjoyed their meals also. All items fresh and tasty. Took one star from the atmosphere for not having beer/wine or liquor.

I enjoyed the food very much the portion size was good! Place is clean & the staff are nice. Prices are affordable. I was surprised to get bean dip I guess for the chips, but it wasn’t actually bad I liked it. I prefer salsa more so though!

I just love this place! It’s a few minutes outside of Roan Mtn. State Park, so every time I visit the park (a handful of times a year) I make a point of having dinner here once or twice during my stay.
I can highly recommend the El Barco (my personal fave), Chile Colorado, Burrito Jalisco, Pollo Poblano & Pollo Loco!
Not only do they give you a very nice bean dip with your tortilla chips, they have a salsa bar, where you can try several variety of salsa’s, the White & Tomatillo salsa’s are fantastic, with just a little “kick”.
The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are attentive! There’s a lovely deck you can enjoy your meal on as well.

This place is always great. The food tastes fresh and there are multiple locations in East TN. We have been to the one in Roan Mt and the one in Newland (I think that’s where it is).
The queso is yummy and the chips are always crispy like chips should be. The loaded queso is not my favorite since the pieces of meat are huge and not bite sized so they break your chip when you try to scoop with a chip. The guacamole is good.
My kids always eat the queso, chips and tortillas and love it. I usually get shrimp fajitas or something like that but sometimes I just get queso and eat that and chips for my meal.
All the servers we have had are prompt and nice. We like to eat outside when we can/when the weather is good. The Roan Mt location has a big deck out front where our party of 10+ can sit.
We always stop by at least once when we are in Roan Mountain camping at the State Park. We highly recommend it!

Great front porch dining. Convenient to Roan and the A.T. I had a delicious plate of shrimp and oysters. My wife loved the veggie nacho chip plate. Their nachos are cut thin and are less filling than most restaurants. Pollo Asada came with smokey pinto beans, everyone at the table loved them. Big portions, everyone needed a to go box. Wonderful surprise after a day of hiking. Pictured is the garden salad, gotta try the raspberry vinaigrette. Also pictured were our appetizers of fried mushrooms, we had already eaten some.

‘Mucho bueno,’ my family kept saying between chips and mouthfuls of food.
I was pretty excited by the idea of a salsa bar at a local Mexican restaurant, so we took a chance on this modest road-side restaurant in Roan Mountain. It was so worth it.
Everything was so good and the portions were ridiculously large. The salsas were fresh and delicious. The chips were freshly-made and came out warm. We were especially impressed by the fresh “refried beans”. They were slightly orange but thick and so tasty! The staff were attentive and friendly.
Overall, my family cannot recommend this restaurant more. When we pass through Roan Mountain, we’ll be stopping in again.

Excellent Mexican restaurant in a small town. I love that they serve bean dip as well as a salsa bar! The street tacos were delish! Sadly they do not serve margaritas.
