Excellent ! The salsa bar is everything ! Chips are warm and thin & I like them and the bean dip they bring out with the chips is delicious The margaritas are fresh with beautiful fresh fruit !
The shrimp tacos were the best we ever had !
The manager checked on us & ALL the servers were attentive. Everything we saw looked excellent ‘ please don’t pay attention to the bad reviews @ we will def be back every time we come thru town.

**** so it’s now Sunday morning and I’m coming back to edit my review. I have an extremely sensitive tummy because I’ve had weight loss surgery and my husband has as well. We did not get sick from the food. No tummy problems at all matter fact, we at even midnight last night we were talking about how amazing all the fresh fruits and vegetable vegetables were in that restaurant and how could they afford all the beautiful fresh fruits and vegetable vegetables. We’re definitely going back tonight for the salsa bar and fresh margaritas and we’re trying to decide if we have to have the shrimp tacos again or we can get something else.
Oh, and by the way for people that complain about the restaurant being overpriced, it was $40 for two margaritas and our shrimp tacos and we were so full. We had to bring one shrimp taco in it to go box and don’t forget they have a little cups and lids that you can take some of the salsa and chips with you in your to go box. It was a good munchy at midnight.
We returned and everything was excellent !
Again. All the servers are so sweet as well.

So initially the food tasted very good however, several hours later, both the wife and I had diarrhea. Didn’t think it was the food from this restaurant until I ate my leftovers the next day for lunch and I had diarrhea again after eating the food. Not sure what the issue was with the food since it did taste good but we won’t be back to this restaurant. We also had to go ask for our check since our waiter was absent after we got our food. I also had to get up and get my own to go boxes since no waiter present.

This place his really good food. We go here once a month because the food is great. But, I am giving them three stars because the service has been awful, the bathrooms gross, and just overall the front of house not feeling like they care about their customers. All the food in the images were great. Highly recommend the fried mushrooms and peel ‘n eat shrimp. So good! But you may have to wait 15 minutes for a drink refill and step over used paper towels in the restroom. 100% great food, 0% service. But by far, the best Mexican food around. That is, if you call peel n eat shrimp and friend mushrooms Mexican food. Oh, they also play country music, very weird. If the front of the house could get it together, this could easily be a 5 star restaurant. Oh, there was an oddly placed cup labeled “Money” at the cashier. Perhaps they meant tips?

Elizabethton location is far superior. You guys should invest in more high chairs; I can honestly say I’ve never been denied one anywhere else, ever. Also, our waiter seemed to really not like us – sorry to inconvenience you!

I never had burger from a Mexican restaurant but I took a chance and….I AM SO GLAD A DID IT WAS PERFECT! Best burger I ever had! Definitely recommend its culturally different in a great way and everyone is nice & kind! Pretty sure it’s called “Hangover burger” my friend got enchiladas & he said it was great! Also the salsa bar is great with wide selection choice (free)

WOW, Great food! I meant to order the chicken chimichanga but didn’t and was brought the beef and it was amazing, seasoned perfectly, will never order chicken again. And the salsa bar was maybe the best I’ve ever seen. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. 10 stars, go and eat too much like we did. $25 bucks for lunch for two is a great price also.

My husband and I dined in on 10/26 for our anniversary. When we walked in, we saw the board of specials had Whiskey Sour for $4.25. We each enjoyed 2 of those with our delicious fajitas. The waitress came by with our bill and we handed her our credit card without reviewing the bill. After she brought our receipt back, I signed it, and then we noticed they charged us full price, I believe $9 each for a total bill of $74.95.We brought it to attention of the waitress and since she was new said she would get someone to take care of it. We were then brought a new ticket for a total of $53.04. We assumed they had backed out the original and only charged the $53.04, but as I review my credit card this week I see the full charge $74.95. Disappointed as the food was delicious and service was great otherwise.

Come hungry, there are a lot of options to eat at this Mexican/Seafood restaurant/bar. The portions are incredible. The food was great. We had ocean perch and grilled shrimp, calamari–that came with fried peppers–, fresh warm tortilla chips, chicken, pork, steak, and shrimp fajitas.

I’ve had Mexican food from other places, but this is the best so far. Everything was fresh and tasty, not bland at all. Out waiter, Willie was fantastic . I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you haven’t. We will definitely be adding Puerto Nuevo to our regular rotation of dining out!!
