Really glad i did , i walked in and felt so welcomed by the hostess (plural) one woman walked my to the bar and was so sweet. I did not have a reservation and that’s ok they still welcomed us . The bartender specially Homero and Andre’s explained the drink menu and food menu to us ! I promise this is the only restaurant that i enjoyed all the food i ordered and drinks ! I want to also give thanks to the women and men who came and brought us my food they explained what was being served ! Which i really enjoyed . Each food came with its own presentation , and every dish was delicious! VICTOR THE MANAGER . Thank you for making my night special and thank you for having a really great team behind you ! You guys are the best love hugs kisses and so much prosperity to everyone <3
The food was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. You can truly taste the quality in every dish, from the ingredients to the presentation.
The ambiance is beautiful and inviting, creating the perfect setting to relax and enjoy. What made it even more special was the exceptional service — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
An outstanding experience from start to finish. I will definitely be coming back!
All the seafood – clams, oysters, aguachile was super fresh with seasonal citrus and fresh herbs. The service was warm and genuine and you could feel the passion of the staff with every interaction. They also have an all Mexican wine list with a lot of hard to find and delicious options. Definitely try some if you haven’t before, the staff is also well prepared to make recommendations on wine. Oh! And the desserts – definitely a highlight so save some room! Overall – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and we will definitely be back.
Now, the food. WOW!
Intention and passion. You can taste it with every bite. It’s unique and exciting but still familiar. The GM, Victor, explains that it’s not “Mexican food.” It’s “food that is served in Mexico.” Essentially, it’s “just” food. Food that you’ll find if you’re lucky enough to travel around the coast of Mexico but also has a place in any culinary tradition around the world. It’s just gorgeous. I was giggling with each bite. They’re balanced and intentional. Earthiness gives way to sweetness. Dishes that you think would be heavy are perfectly satisfying without leaving you weighed down in your chair. The generous use of acid and heat brings brightness and zing. Keeps you wanting more and more. Nothing is heavy or overdone. The restraint shown to keep dishes from being too much is masterful.
We were able to sample so much of the menu:
– The tiradito haunts me. The basil and aji amarillo dressing(?) is phenomenal. If I had to do a juice cleanse, it’s what I would look for.
– I am NOT a fan of clams but the rare chocolate clams they have sourced and prepared are DYNAMITE. I would purposefully order those again. (If you knew me, you’d know how powerful that statement is.)
– The use of chicharron along with a squeeze of lime on the oysters was fantastic.
– The panela cheese salad with Castelvetrano Olives, microgreens, grapes, and acidic dressing was PERFECT.
– I want to eat the crema de champiñones every day the temperature drops to jacket-level or colder.
– The pozole grits underneath the perfectly cooked scallops was mind-blowing.
– The duck with its beautifully scored skin and seasonal red current puree/coulis was delightful.
– Finishing with the coconut semifredo was a perfect decision. Bright, cool, and sweet coconut balanced by the fresh basil oil left my palate perfectly sated.
I cannot wait to go back and try more.
The Mexican wine list is also amazing, the Som knocked it out of the park, tried 3 different wines and all were incredible!
We had:
-Hiramasa Tiradito: excellent, some of the freshest and best raw fish we’ve ever had in Dallas
-Chocolate Clams: very good but could use a little less sauce for our taste
-Caesar Salad: wonderful and will be craving it
-Campanelle Pasta: good, but was too spicy. We love spice, but it was so spicy you couldn’t taste any of the dishes flavors.
-Pekin Duck Breast: cooked super well and the beet mole was very unique and amazing
Phenomenal food!!!
Such a great experience at Puerto Cocina & Bar! The steak and lamb chops were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the panela salad was fresh and delicious. Excellent, friendly service from start to finish. So happy to support this new spot — highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
A special thank you to José, who took excellent care of us throughout the evening. His service was attentive, friendly, and professional without ever feeling rushed. He made great recommendations and made sure everything was perfect at the table.
The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, making it a great spot for dinner with friends or family. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend.
