I liked Puccini’s!! I think it was a pretty solid option for local and affordable Italian food! We all liked our meals a decent bit, and the bread!

My server was very friendly and patient with me, as I was a bit indecisive and had some questions. She was very sweet and helpful with all of us.

Unfortunately, I did have a bit of a problem with my meal (which I’m sure they would’ve fixed, but we were in a hurry so I didn’t have time).

First, the lettuce felt a bit frozen and the salad was very cold and water-y. I don’t know if I’m explaining it well, but it is like when you leave a salad or lettuce in the back of your fridge but you go to eat it and the lettuce has been frozen. It was very cold and then when I added my ranch to it, it collected a lot of water from the lettuce and just was super thin and watery. Not a huge deal, as it comes with the meal, but I have texture sensitivities so it was pretty odd.

My other issue was that I ordered the Vodka Sauce with Penne (as I said, I have large sensory issues and I don’t do well with fettuccine noodles unless they are in alfredo sauce), so I did penne. It arrived and unfortunately, it was made with fettuccine.

Again, I am SURE that they would’ve fixed it if I asked, but I was in a hurry and just didn’t really have time to fix it because it was my final dinner in Lexington (I was moving out so I had to get home to do an exit meeting).

However, to try and make for an easy fix the kitchen and for our timeline so I could eat it, I asked for a little side of alfredo sauce to hopefully help the texture for me so I could eat it. She was super kind and happy to get it for me. When she brought it, it was a huge cup and I thought it was just a nice gesture but I just wanted a little, but when I got my check, I was charged $4 more for it, which was a bit upsetting because I didn’t even want it but was trying to make it edible for me. I really was a bit bummed that they didn’t warn me it would cost extra. I thought it may be a $1 max, but when I wasn’t told it was an upcharge, I was very happy to hear they were doing it for free. It was just a bit more stressful of an experience than I expected in that regard.

Additionally, the menu said to ask the server for a wine list, but there was no wine list with prices or wineries. I asked for a glass of wine and she was able to go search down the winery and price and was super helpful with it, but it is very inefficient to not have a list with the information, as I wanted to ask about a few wines but I felt bad taking up her time so I just went with the first one she got, even though it was more expensive than I would’ve liked.

The environment was cozy and warm, and very spacious! It felt like such a nice, local Italian spot, and we loved that aspect. My server did a wonderful job and we loved her. I don’t think I will return when I come back personally, but I think my experience was just a bit different, it seems.

Puccini’s used to be my favorite pizza spot in town. The pizza was outstanding, and I LOVED the dinner salad with the Dijon vinaigrette. And the service was always top-notch. We loved it so much we had our rehearsal dinner there in the private dining room.
During the pandemic, we tried supporting local places with take out. We ordered puccini’s. It was pretty bad. Our order was wrong, the quality was off. We called to see what could be done, and the customer service wasn’t there. I know a lot of restaurants were struggling during that time…but it was very disappointing.
So recently a group of friends were meeting there and reserved the private room. I was hoping things were back to normal.
They were not.
The menus are outdated–items on there they apparently haven’t had in years.
My food was just okay. The salad which had been a favorite for years as just meh.
The Dijon vinaigrette which I used to order extra of tasted watered down.
Our server was trying really hard but she needed back up which wasn’t there.
I want Puccini’s to succeed –the others around town have already closed.
It just feels like they’ve lost the energy they once had. If you didn’t have the past experience to compare to, maybe you would think it is great. For me though, remembering how good it used to be, it was just average.

I’ve eaten Puccini’s for years as one of my absolute favorite spots. I haven’t got out much this winter & finally did last night and went to the Pu. Everything was so delicious and perfect as it always is. I got the ravioli and cheesy garlic bread appetizer. The salad was so abundant and fresh, crispy cold. Spinach ravioli perfection. My partner got the 4 cheese penne and it was amazing. All so flavorful, no need for even salt and pepper. Service was absolutely delightful. Thanks team Puccini’s!!

The chicken Diavlo spicy is very spicy but delicious. Thier pizza is some of the best we have ever had. I would say the only complaint would be the appetizer garlic bread and cheese was a very small portion for the price.

There’s a lot of say about this place. This is nice little college spot. It’s close to college University of Kentucky. The food is pretty good thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was fantastic. Always ready. And attentive so much so that my pigeon club members and I have our pigeon club meetings there and it’s fantastic.

I order the Lasagna with side salad/ ranch dressing. Salad was okay, kinda bland. But the Lasagna was overcooked. On both ends of the dish the lasagna noodles wouldn’t even cut with the fork. It was so hard, a knife was required. And the knife tried to saw the noodles. I just ate the middle that was edible. I don’t think anyone else had a bad dish, it was just me. But I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. We had a party of 14 and one waitress took care of all of us with a great attitude and very attentive. Service was above board.

Update: Since the location is not the most convenient to us we don’t get to go often. I recently heard that they were going down hill a bit…and I can now confirm. The service this past weekend was some of the worst I have ever received. The waitress wasn’t familiar with the menu at all. When she brought the appetizer she didn’t give appetizer plates. The drinks ran empty multiple times and it was slow to receive our food. There were four people in our party and she forgot to enter in the food of one person so their food was received 15 minutes after ours. There was just a mumble of an apology and that was it. I can understand if they were super busy but she had three maybe four tables tops. We overheard the table next to us and she had messed up something on their service as well. We were 2 parties of 2 and she confirmed how the checks would be divided….and we still received the wrong items on the checks. At that point, we just wanted to leave so we didn’t have her correct anything. It is a shame because the food is still really good.

Previous: We love Puccini’s. They have unique pizza and great pasta. I have never had anything there that was not delicious. Their salads are always fresh…like super fresh. Sometimes the food does come out a bit slow but very much worth the wait. We were sad when the Hamburg location closed but we do travel across town for this amazing food!

We had an awesome experience here today. The food and service was incredible, they even filled up our dressing cups without asking. It was pretty empty so maybe that’s why as I saw other reviews with different issues. But it was great for a sat afternoon!

I ordered a $24 white clam pasta for delivery. It comes DRENCHED in oil. Please be aware, it looks more like a soup than a pasta. The “pasta” was tasteless, I had to add my own seasonings and it it still didn’t taste like anything. I have fatty liver disease and the amount of oil is not safe to consume. Thankfully I was able to get a refund. Don’t think I’ll order from here again.

I was in town just visiting and had pizza craving, but I was looking for a spot that had vegan / plant-based options. Puccini’s was the spot! I was ordering through Grubhub and had a question I called in and the guy on the phone helped me out. I had the Humble Pie, substituted for vegan cheese, and added vegan sausage. Oh em gee; it was soooo delicious; I’m back in my home state wishing I could have some Puccini’s! Thank you for having vegan options!
