Public Coast Brewing Co. – Born & Brewed in Cannon Beach. In 1967, Oregon saw fit to boldly declare our beaches free and open to all. Today, we’re celebrating this landmark legislation anew – with beer. Lots of honest, great-tasting beer. Using seasonal ingredients sourced and harvested from our Farm, along with local vendors, and harnessed by the culinary genius of our brewers and owner, our beers are unlike any other you’ll find on the Northcoast. We keep a rotation of freshly brewed IPAs, Reds, Stouts, Sours, and Seltzers so there’s always something new to try. Checkout our award winning ‘67 Blonde Ale, Coconut Brown Ale, and Farmstand Series Seltzers the next time you visit. Welcome to Public Coast Brewing Co.

Public Coast Brewing – Cannon Beach
The food was amazing! We started with the pretzel topped with sea salt, served with cheese sauce and mustard. The cheese sauce was incredible—rich and flavorful. The mustard was good too, just a bit sweeter than I prefer.
I had the IPA brine chicken salad. It was good and definitely a unique combo. Probably wouldn’t order it again myself, but it’s absolutely worth trying if you’re curious.
The clam chowder was delicious—thick, chunky, and full of flavor. And the fish and chips were epic: light, crispy breading, perfectly cooked fish, and that tartar sauce was next level. Highly recommend!
We sat on the heated outdoor patio, which was perfect and super comfortable. Can’t wait to come back.
Beer tip: If you like dark beer, don’t miss the Fluffin’ Good Stout—so good!

We came here for lunch to sample the brews and have some tasty grub on our way out of town. The service was friendly – we got some tastings to make sure we were happy with our beer choices. The beers and NA hop tea were unique and delicious. The food was great too! The burger was the best we have ever had in Cannon Beach – cooked perfectly to order and on the fluffiest brioche bun. I loved the crispy fish tacos also and the crema on top had the perfect amount of kick. Come here! It’s so good.

Minus one point for counter serve, but they were helpful! And I reduced a point on atmosphere because it was pretty loud…especially because I was surrounded by families with rowdy young children. So yes, child friendly? Normally, I would rave about the burger. It is probably the best pub burger around right now, since the burgers at a big brewery in Astoria have gone rather downhill recently. And the fries were a delight. Really. But what I have to tell you is that the ketchup at this place is AMAZING! If it’s made in house I need to know how. If this is a product you people buy then tell me where to get it! Seriously, all I can remember is how great the ketchup was, and how well it paired with the IPA. Even if you aren’t that hungry, just order the fries and lots of extra ketchup!

I’ve always liked Public Coast Brewing, but my visit today was a let-down. My $35 fish and chips arrived with the tartar sauce container melted into the fries, and the fish was so overcooked it was tough and dry. The presentation alone made it hard to want to eat, and the quality raised concerns about food safety.

For the price, I expected something fresh and well-prepared, not a meal that looked and tasted like it had been forgotten in the kitchen. Hoping this was just a one-off, but it definitely made me think twice about coming back.

So for $174 plus $20 tip we got:

-Dirty fries with barely anything on them (seriously how do you do loaded fries without cheese???)
-$35 halibut
-over salted pretzel
-root beer that is way too sweet
-meh burger you could get anywhere else, nothing noteworthy

We came here two years ago and was impressed. Now we don’t want to come back, ever

Great atmosphere, food and drinks! We stopped by after a hike at Ecola State Park, and highly recommend to anyone in the area

I ordered the veggie burger – delicious and could tell it was made in house as there were mushrooms and nuts in there. My husband got the wings and burger and liked both

Tried the beer flight and liked how fun the different flavors were including the coconut and hibiscus options

1st time and the wings & beer were awesome! Hummus platter is large enough for a meal. Excellent selection of veggies and bread.

Great food in cannon beach, the fish and chips were excellent. I would say a little on the expensive side but they were phenomenal definitely the best I had in Oregon while I was visiting. Great beer and clam chowder. 10/10

Best place in Cannon Beach for gluten free options. Had the fish and chips… and the fish was great, crispy on the outside and flaky/tender on the inside.
They also have ciders on tap. The blueberry cider was crisp and light.
Per the other reviews, yes, the service isn’t like what it would be a a sit down restaurant with traditional wait-staff… but they make it very clear how to order. And if you miss the signs I’m sure they will help you out. Everyone was friendly and helpful!

Public Coast Brewing Co is our favorite brew pub in Cannon Beach.

They have a wide variety of gluten free options, including some of the best fish and chips in the area, and creamy clam chowder.

We have enjoyed the fish and chips, chicken Caesar salad, clam chowder, and a variety of other options over the last couple of years.

They have a wide variety of beers and ciders on tap, along with draft root beer, cream soda, and other sodas (last time it was blueberry cream soda).

You order at the counter and take a buzzer to seat yourself inside, at the bar, or outside at a picnic table or near their outdoor fire pit.

They have a clean restroom with Oregon costal history posted on the walls (at least in the men’s room… who knows what mysteries await the patrons of the lady’s room…)
